I've been thinking about some of the things in the Senate bill and don't understand some things. Anyone have any ideas on these - to name a few:

I think it's going to be difficult to determin if an illegal has been here 2 yrs, 5 yrs or 11 yrs. If I knew I was going to get amnesty, wouldn't I say I've been here 5 yrs?
Also, how about how much they owe in back taxes??? Wouldn't I say I've been working for $3 per hour rather than $8 or $10?
They're not tracking overstays now - how are they going to do it w more?
How are they going to round folks up and make sure they return to their home country and apply?

All good points.. I'll give my opinion on a few..

I think it's going to be difficult to determin if an illegal has been here 2 yrs, 5 yrs or 11 yrs. If I knew I was going to get amnesty, wouldn't I say I've been here 5 yrs? I believe we could used documentation such as receipts or housing records. We would only give them the benefit based on the oldest documented proof. If no documentation, then they are assumed to be a new illegal immigrant.
Also, how about how much they owe in back taxes??? Wouldn't I say I've been working for $3 per hour rather than $8 or $10? Back to documentation, but this is a challenge.
They're not tracking overstays now - how are they going to do it w more? With the 'carrot' of legal work documentation, we'll have a lot of registration information of who and where these people are.
How are they going to round folks up and make sure they return to their home country and apply? Another question this spurs is what if their home countries won't take them back?
