This is a recipe for disaster. Everybody in the past thought they lived in "modern times". 250 years from now, people will be laughing at us and at our utter stupidity and hubris. We are a very arrogant nation. We think we live in "modern times" and the past is past. What exists today will always exist. Civilizations don't fall anymore. The way it is now, is the way it will always be. Most importantly, let people do whatever they want, as long as "nobody gets hurt". This is a recipe for disaster. Everybody in the past thought they lived in "modern times". 250 years from now, people will be laughing at us and at our utter stupidity and hubris.

I agree completly. People in this country do not care about history, they care about the here and now. They don't care about the fact that we are funding China's build-up, they only care about getting their cheap crap at Wal-Mart.

People don't care about supporting the companies that hire illegals, whether it's lawncare or construction, they only want it done cheap.

Politicians, including Republicans all the way up to the White House don't care about the consequences of their actions in making criminals "guest workers" and "future American citizens", they care only the money/donations, perks, and "fact-finding" trips coming from the lobbyists representing those companies whose bottom lines benefit from illegal aliens, and they only care about votes at the ballot box and the polls.

I don't like to make the comparison to the Romans for one reason - we generally aren't empire builders (I know we have military bases and personnel in God knows how many countries, but that's beside the point). The problem is, the comparison is apt in so many other ways. The Romans became complacent, fat, greedy, etc. They relied on cheap labor (albeit slaves) and many-times welcomed people coming into the Empire, regardless of how they entered (although at times the Romans recognized that very large groups could drain the local resources and would try to keep them out). They allowed their bureacracy to grow far too large.

It's easy to say "this group or that group attacked the Empire, and that's why they fell" but that's only part of the story. The Empire fell from within. Had it not been corrupted by internal forces, it would have been able to withstand external forces for who knows how long.

Such a comparison bothers many people, especially some Republicans, but there is so much to be learned from the Roman Empire, as well as later empires (such as Britain).

At some point, we are going to have to realize that our government is far too large, has far too much power, and that they are making far too many foolish decisions, and that we ourselves are making foolish decisions as a nation. Unfortunately I don't think too many Americans alive today care about any of that.

His plea will unfortunately fall on deaf ears. Bush and Rove are calculating that repbulicans will still vote for them. That we have no place to turn and will be sooooooo scared by the thought of Hitlery that we will continue to vote for phoney RINOs.

Bush doesnt care about homeland security. This is all a rouse. We are fodder for the game of world economics - no borders, no culture no American heritage.

There are good conservatives left - we need to support them and quite electing backstabbing RINOs like Bush.

Indeed, and by and large he is correct.. Which makes you wonder what kind of Kool-Aid do they drink at Yale. The graduates (Clinton, Dubya and his Daddy and others) seem to be on the same page in the same book..

The more we crack down on illegal immigration, the less Mexicans in Mexico will cling to the Leftist frontrunner in this July's presidential elections who is suddenly in a statistical deadheat for the first time with right-leading Felipe Calderon. That Chavez-admiring Leftie had been ahead in the polls literally for years on promises of free money and threats of nationalization and such. Suddenly the immigration pressures have helped lead to a declining peso relative to the dollar, though, and voters (who know how much Mexico desperately needs the USA) are noticing growing U.S. disapproval for how Mexico's government still won't stand up to telecom monopoly magnate Carlos Slim (#3 on Forbes wealthiest list). Let's keep up the constructive pressure so that Mexicans who don't want to have to abandon Mexico can stay there (which most WANT to do anyway, to be with their families where they speak the same language and don't have to wash bathroom floors and pick pesticide-laden vegetables).

Meanwhile, don't we owe it to our American people struggling in Mexico who endure Mexico's shamelessly racist immigration restrictions to keep the pressure up and thereby empower reformers in Mexico in that way, too? Can you believe Mexico's hypocritically anti-gringo immigration laws which Rush Limbaugh now impressively and charismaticaly calls "Limbaugh's Laws" while saying we should try running the USA in a similar way to see what the reaction would be? Here they are:

Mr. Maxwell pretty much said it all. That Constitutional Convention, even with the possibility that the wack-job Libs. will table some Socialistic ideas, may be our only alternative. Perhaps the House will have the courage to stand up against this travesty but, that may only prolong the agony.

. . . The American people have been made the victims of monumental social engineering perpetuated upon them without their consent and against their will by an arrogant governing elite. Those who try to neutralize their justifiable instincts of self-preservation as a people and a sovereign nation by constantly invoking the mantra of "a nation of immigrants" are trying to pull the wool over their eyes.

. . . The McCain-Kennedy bill looks like it was drafted by bureaucrats at the United Nations, not by representatives of the United States.

Bump for a great article!

And trolls, probably"

This name calling crap is getting real old real fast. Just because you are wearing blinders, no one is calling you a fool....so why not grow up?

The border fiasco is being done on purpose.. ON PURPOSE.. By republican leaders, not all but MOST..

All of whom should be relieved of their jobs at the next election. This invasion by Mexico and the president who has allowed it has to be the most disgusting situation in recent American history (with the exception of 9/11).

Even AFTER 9/11, this president paid absolutely no attention to the border situation, yet we were bombarded daily with "terrorism" warnings.

He has failed America by selling us out.

True... wether thru stupidity or guile I don't care its past all that.. The boy(Bush) either has become or always was a malefactor.. The only thing needed is admitting that.. Denial prolongs the cure.. I however think he is NOT stupid.. it was his plan all along.. The Coup D'Grace of American globalists..

Whats to be gained by the globalists by multi millions of illegal and legal insurgents?.. Answer: Watering down of americas Nationalistic Bent.. Americas LOVE of soverignty.. Thats what.. it is happening and has been happening.. for decades.. The odds of this view being on the MsM or MsP is remote.. so I posit it HERE..

Its true, simple, straight forward and obvious to any and all that consider it.. Ockhams Razor DEMANDS this answer be considered, and crys out to be heard.. The masses might be oblivious and many here too, but all its takes is "the King has no CLOTHES" to be said ONCE.. its takes a multitude of lies to cover one simple truth.. AND THAT IS THE TRUTH..

"Pull the lever, sheep - do you want Hillary to be elected?"

We need a third choice if the PTB try to ram another globalist down our throats.
But I have a feeling from here on out we'll never get that choice.

The Constitution is dead as a doornail.
Our morals as a nation are quickly going down the drain.
The Republicans in Congress make the rats look thrifty.
Big Business has no more loyalty to the American people than the politicians.
You need scientific notation to write out the national debt,
without getting writer's cramp.

We need to pray for a leader that can turn this country
around one hundred and eighty degrees.

BTTT for the truth of post #93! What a pity more Americans don't realize what is happening to our country. By the time they get angry, it will be too late to salvage it, unless we can get lucky and elect a REAL AMERICAN PRESIDENT.

There's an FR thread/sewing-circle where various ladies give each other virtual hugs and toasters as rewards for worshiping GW Bush.

That may be a better place for you to post -

instead of on threads where adults are concerned about dishonest schemes to betray our country and condemn our children to the third world.

Dear President Bush, Perhaps you know me from my work. I wrote and directed the movies "Gettysburg" and "Gods and Generals."

While I have not read the article (i skimmed the excerpt you posted), I do know that Ron Maxwell is one of the most PC guys around. You should have heard him fulminate against the observation tower at Gettysburg just before it was torn down.

Warning order. 'Pod.
