Ignorance? please. We're talking replacement, not extinction; we live on a crowded planet (unless you're in some Red State paradise) with rapidly disappearing resources.

6.5 billion now, 10 billion this century, then it is projected to decline somewhat, so we're already 2/3 the way there. We're not talking anything, and we're not interested in Limits to Growth.

Not that crowded. The entire world population could fit into NYC and each person would still have more room than the average NYer. You can calculate it yourself if you like.

And we're not low on resources. We have enough to feed the entire population several times over and have the technology available to produce more. Actually, one of the main things stopping us from producing more is the libs objection to using effective pesticides in 3rd World Countries (because starvation is a much better alternative). The worry about running out of resources started prior to the agricultural revolution, and propagandists still like to use it as an excuse today.

In all honesty, the best way to reduce to world's population is to educate women. Education leads to lower birth rates.
