Hugging is an acceptable form of saying hello in the South...young folks do it...old folks do it. Our kids never enter our house without giving us a hug....or leave it.

My 7 year old Grandson last year in K-Garten was hugged by a classmate upon going to her house for a Birthday party. As his Mom told me the story about the little girl running out to the curb to greet Justin with a hug....he looked over at me and said: "Grandpa...girls like me". I assured him I understood and had been putting up with that sort of adoration since I was his age...and was quick to point out it never ends and he was probably going to have to do likewise.....given his lineage...(LOL)

The Playground Monitor told the teacher.

The aide who was monitoring told the teacher.

I could understand if a boy hugged a girl. The school would consider that sexual assault. Since the girl hugged a girl, her lesbian rights have been violated. Aren't schools supposedto be safe havens for homosexuals? I expect Gladd to file a lawsuit claiming homophobia.

Yet another "this is why we send our kid to private school" story.

And in Texas even men friends do it, even in public. Sometimes a handshake does not convey true friendship. No broke back jokes either.

My wife once told me how she wished she had a friend when she was 5 so that she could have someone to give her a hug when she was picked on the playground.

Such a simple thing as a hug turned into a crime by these fools.

It's a very natural thing.

5-year-olds hug.....it's one of the good things about being a grandparent.

OMG! I suppose I'll have to write a letter denouncing hugging too. I admit it. I hugged several students while congratulating them on getting a "I" at UIL contest yesterday. Oh, and they hugged me too!!! Can't say who hugged whom first (probably my kid first, though can't be sure), but the act was done. I even shook hands with one of their teachers and patted a second teacher and the principal (in front of his wife) on the shoulder. For shame!

Liberalism does just the opposite of what the liberals cry for, eventually it will diminish freedom not expand it. We will all have to live in our own glass bubble as not to offend anyone. Bubbleheads.

Given the way teachers are acting these days, maybe the teacher was just jealous.

This may be a misunderstanding, a case of bad reporting. The little girl wrote, "I touch Sophie because she touch me and I didn't like it because she was hugging me. I didn't like when she hugged me." I suspect Sophie didn't like the way she was hugged either. It kind of sounds like this little girl was mad at Sophie for hugging her and she grabbed Sophie and squeezed her in a malicious way. I'd like to know if Sophie was crying after the "hug." This may be a case where a little girl was just being affectionate and if so what happens is as crazy as everyone hear thinks it was. But, if this little girl forced to write an apology was trying to hurt the little girl named Sophie, there really wasn't anything improper about making her write a letter of apology. I wouldn't get all worked up over this one without having a better grasp of the facts.

This little girl's father needs to have a private, up close and personal "conversation" with the principal of this school.

Per the handout, it would take several instances of biting or worse to be raised to the punishment the child received.

"everyone hear"

Should have said "everyone here"

Man, I'm just Mr. Typo today.
