Letter placed at entrance to Yariv Oppenheimer's Ramat Gan home threatens Peace Now director general with use of force if organization does not stop petitioning High Court against West Bank outposts
A threatening letter was placed at the door of Peace Now Director General Yariv Oppenheimer in Ramat Gan.
The letter demanded that Peace Now cease petitioning the High Court in a bid to remove unauthorized West Bank outposts.
"If we find out you are continuing in your malicious plans, there won't be an option but to stop you by force," the letter read. "And if we don't succeed in that, there is something even better revenge."
Oppenheimer submitted a complaint to the Yarkon District Police on Thursday.
The printed letter, which was unsigned, read: "Now listen well, you are not going to petition the High Court regarding all of the settlements you planned to petition over. You will sit at home quietly, like a good boy, do you get it Yariv? It would be a shame if we had to take steps. We don't want to threaten. In the meantime we won't do anything. We'll give you a chance to atone for your deeds. Know that without you the State would not even be thinking of evacuating one outpost."
The letter said that Oppenheimer could choose between two paths.
"Choose whichever you want, one will lead you to satisfaction and the other one to hell," the message read.
On Wednesday, the Peace Now movement petitioned the High Court over six outposts in the West Bank. The movement is attempting to repeat its success last year when it succeeded in getting the High Court to order the destruction of illegal homes in the Amona outpost.
Oppenheimer told Ynet in response: "I hope that police capture everyone who threatens the rule of law, freedom of expression, and the ability to run a democratic state."
What a genius.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
The words of R. Meir Kahane are coming true again. He predicted long ago that their would be violence between Jew and Jew over this.
The Israeli Likud wanted Rabbi Kahane, Zt"l banned in Israel because the Rabbi would've taken ten seats in the next knesset election. The Israeli authorities also entreated the American government to do the same thing.
Kahane was a great man whose advice to expell the Arabs (almost half would leave if they were paid) has been proven over and over to be the correct one.
Didn't Kurds returning to their homes after Saddam throw the Arab squatters out? Judea and Samaria are not Arab lands.
That is a bald faced lie. No one who ever heard Meir Kahane speak or read any of his books would ever say or write that.
Meir Kahane was labled a terrorist by the Israeli governement to outlaw his political party which was about to gain 18 seats in the Knesset. It was a convenient way to rid a political rival. He never wanted violence against anyone, but was a strong nationalist who would never have tolerated or excused terrorists and terrorism as Israel did and continues to do.
mention the name Kahane and any israeli establishmentarian (right, left or whatever) will go ape $hi6.
Kahane is the achilles heel of Israel's myth that it can be both a liberal democracy and a Jewish state (while having a large hostile minority with citizenship).
It cant. the left knows this but wont admit it...thats why they want to 'disengage?' why the almost frantic worry about demographics by the israeli left? kahane predicted this more than two decades ago. but like Jabotinsky who repdicted the gas chambers, most Jews being naive lemmings shouted him down and called him a militarist, fascist etc etc.
it boils down to this undeniable contradiction that Israel must answer sooner than later. Israel's declaration of independence calls for both a Jewish and democratic state. Great, but will the Israeli polpulace sit by while a non-violent but eternally hostile arab minority breeds itself into a powerful majority? a majority which will immediately nullify the law of return? change the name of Israel to say...Palestine?
what is most troublesome is that the israeli establishemnt lacks the intellectual honesty to admit this dilemma. Part of the reason is if they forced they issue, my guess is that the public would choose a Jewish state at the expense of a hebre speaking portugal democracy in a hreat beat.
ehud and his patrons would be out of their cushy positions.
your reasoning sounds great in theory, but thats the only context it applies.
should israel or any democracy allow a hostile minority to overwhelm the nation using the very rights and privelages afforded it by the country they seek to destroy? no other sane country on earht would tolerate this....ahh but Israel is expected to commit suicide in the name of 'democracy'. and like I said look at any major poll of the israeli populace, they favor national soverignty of a Jewish state above suicide.
the next hackneyed proposol you throw out there that Israel will solve the demographic time bomb only if it surrenders judea and samaria is interesting, interesting in that even if israel surrenders this land, THE ARABS WHO ALREADY HAVE CITIZENSHIP in pre 67 Israel would STILL become a sizeable minority if not outright majority in the next 2-3 decades.
again, a certain rabbi who the world loved to hate pointed this out numerous times and of course no one listended till now.
Americans do not reject the Hispanic population that has legally come to America, but categorically reject any illegal immigrant who comes and declares that the land does not belong to or could ever be governed by America.
Absolutely not. I could care less what ethnic group becomes American as long as they do so legally. I would want to expell any person who comes to this country illegally, and then declares Americans owe him a job, welfare, and political rights.
At first Hitler wanted to drive all of the Jews from Germany but that is really beside the point.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Hitler wanted extermination and established camps accross Europe to do it. When he had the power to act, then he did. It is the point. Kahane, as do most observant Jews, supports the idea of the boundaries of bibical Israel as eternally belonging to Jews. A more fair comparison are the Catholics and Rome, Muslims and Mecca, or Hindus and the Ganges.
It is true that he rejected western democracy, but then a western democracy and theocracies of any sort are incompatable. One cannot have a western democracy and statism based on any religion or ethnic group.
If any ethnic group tried to subvert our nation and its laws, that would be treason. There has been mass protests of insurrection in America before. In times of war, all sorts of drastic measures have been taken to restore order and the rule of law. None of them are pleasant. When the Irish rioted in New York in the 1800, the troops had orders to shoot to kill. During WWII, there were internment camps for the Japanese. If a large segment of the hispanic population, revolted, I assume they would be treated the same. The president has the powers of martial law and would be allowed many powers in this type of situation.
Nazi Germany did not expels people, it detained people and executed them. Did you throw that statement in just so you could use the word NAZI? Because it does not make sense. Since the Arabs are insisting on destroying Israel, and Israel is insisting on staying alive, in order to have an opinion you have to pick a side. I see you have chosen the Jihadi.
The Arabs voted in Terrorist Leaders, that is democracy in action too. They are also attacking Israel and when they get nuked along with all their neighbors and millions die that will be democracy reacting to an act of war by a pile of dictators and, one democracy, Hamas.
The defeat and destruction of all of Israels neighbors is also democracy in action.
And justice...
Hitler did not call for the expulsion of Arabs. He called for and pretty near completed the extermination of the Jews. The expulsions that did happen were the Chzechs and the Poles after WWII who kicked out the over one million ethnic Germans from their borders (Sudetenland, Pomerian; etc.).
It's way past time to expell people who are worse than the German Nazis were and Israel will have to do it.
