I agree with you. The Republicans have shown themselves to be utterly spineless, over (Sandy Berger) and over (Jim McDermott) and over (Jay Rockefeller) and over (Chuckie Schumer) and over (Dan Rather) and over (Leaky Leahy) and ....

Why wouldn't they let McKinney slide, too?
