This plan has no chance of succeeding.

Rather, it will succeed, but only in unraveling our social fabric even further.

There is no fence, no stringent border enforcement, and no punishment for employers of illegal aliens.

How is this bill better than not granting fast-track citizenship to 20+ million illegal aliens?

The last time they created a bill they didn't think would succeed we got campaign finance reform. LOL

I didn't say it was. I haven't read the bill, but what I've heard, I don't like.

That's different from saying that I wouldn't support any bill that has an amnesty component. My view is that the most important thing is to stop additional illegal immigration. If I have to trade some form of amnesty to get it, at least that's better than the status quo. But amnesty without significantly improved border protection is no better, and perhaps worse, than the status quo.

A few short days ago Bush Jr. said he was against "amnesty" which he re-definded from English into "path to citizenship" for illegals.

Now tonight he has voiced approval of the Senate bill which provides a path to citizenship for illegal aliens.

Will Dubya now make up a new definition of Amnesty to cover his lies?

"I'm against Amnesty. Amnesty is bad. Amnesty is instant citizenship and 100,000 dollars cash for each undocumented worker. And that's wrong. That's why I'm against it. Always have been."
