Nope - I was seeing where (if at all) that poster would draw the line and accept "amnesty" for normal people - would you allow it?
To: clawrence3
Who is this we? You and the rest of the illegals? Do you think people should just be able to roll over the border, maybe drop a few kids and presto, they are citizens?
To: Don'tMessWithTexas
Sure. How do you want to identify them? Start with the ones waving a flag of a foreign power.

Hayworth Statement on Senate Immigration Compromise: "Convulute, Complicated and Unworkable."
April 06, 2006 Hayworth Statement on Senate Immigration Compromise
Washington, D.C. Congressman J.D. Hayworth today released the following statement on the Senate immigration reform compromise:
"The Senate compromise is so convoluted, so complicated, and so unworkable that is surely must have been the work of Senators Rube and Goldberg.
"This is deja vu all over again. The 1986 amnesty law had a similar approach, and that was a catastrophe. It said if you could prove you did agricultural work for just 90 days a year for the previous three years, you would qualify for a green card. The number of those applying for this benefit was three times higher than expected, largely because of fraud, which was rampant. The Senate bill would likewise be vulnerable to fraud on a grand scale and be a nightmare to administer. It is amnesty wrapped in bureaucracy surrounded by fraud."

Well, let me back up then and see if we are operating under different definitions: Did Abe Lincoln split our nation asunder?

More like that sh!thole East LA.
To: clawrence3
The opinions of a cop in LA aren't even remotely an excuse for lack of proper action by Congress on the border. It's like saying that lactose intolerance is an excuse for not eating oranges.

(If you favor any legal status for illegal aliens, then do not claim to be in favor of secure borders)
To: Rennes Templar
"I agree this is a good middle of the road." Amnesty is not 'middle of the road', unless you're an illegal alien. It's treason.

This is going to backfire on the Washington lawmakers.
I hope so. I will not vote, do grassroots work for anyone in office today if they vote for a amnesty bill!
To: Bella_Bru
"We" in that post was every American citizen and legislator is support of changing federal immigration law to put those who seek U.S. citizenship on the path to do so.

What use are they anyway? The answer is at hand.
Buy a one-way ticket to Mexico. Wait, no, that'll raise suspicion. Buy a round-trip ticket to Mexico, and throw away the return part when you arrive there.
Then, sneak across the border, and you'll qualify for some REAL representation, benefits, and so forth. Your voice will finally be heard! You will finally matter to "our" government!

"normal people" I don't think that amnesty is an option in about 99.9% of cases. Your scenario of the speeding tickets, no I don't agree with that either. If you break the law, you pay the price.

In the fall of 1985, Abouhalima and Weber flew to the United States for a three-week visit. They settled in Brooklyn and never returned to Germany. Six months after arriving in the United States, Abouhalimas tourist visa expired. However, at that exact time, Congress had just authorized an amnesty plan for more than 1 million illegal aliens. Abouhalima applied for amnesty in 1986, received temporary legal residence in 1988 and became a permanent resident two years after that...On March 5, 1993, just one week after the bomb ripped through the World Trade Center, Abouhalima had fled the United States. He made his way from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to his hometown in Egypt. Egyptian authorities promptly captured him. Upon confessing his involvement in the WTC bombing, he was flown back to the United States to stand trial.

My wife told me that the clerk at the check-cashing station at the grocery store downtown told her that they demand the green card from every "immigrant" before cashing their check from the local bigtime ag employer. Guess what? They all have green cards! Guess what else? All the green cards have the same ID number printed on them!
That is a quaint anecdote. I am certain that your sense of American duty compelled you to call 800-232-5378 and report the "facts" that the clerk told your wife. Of course they told you that filing a false report is a federal crime. But since you know these facts, how about posting the investigative case number here so that we can follow along as you single-handedly solve the problem in your community? We could then form a coalition and solve the problem of illegal immigration, using the tools and agencies already in place.
To: tumblindice
I mean that in 100 years, we certainly can assimilate 20 million illega aliens as well as African-Americans have assimilated from being former slaves.
To: clawrence3
So you, all of the illegals, their anchor babies, and liberals?
To: nicmarlo
But the status quo is number 1 above, every time there's a new president, whether they have an R or D after their name. There's never previously been a significant wall, and the penalties have had loopholes. Those can be closed. Heck, add a private right of action for any citizen as a means of enforcement. That would let not just the feds, but any aggrieved businessperson bring a case. You wouldn't have to rely on federal enforcement in that case.
Anyway, your argument essentially boils down to no deal being acceptible because it always can be changed by politicians. If under the current system we're not kicking them out, how will amnesty make it any worse?
To: doc30
As in Genesis, Moses and the children of Isreal were made to roam the desert in exile for 40 years until all the generation that had sinned was consumed. I guess we get to play god with the weasels on capitol hill and sit out the election or vote 3rd party to clean the republican house. It's the only way or we are destined for more of this.

Wow!
+++++++
Some of you may have heard of Kris Kobach, who was head of immigration under John Ashcroft. Last night several of us met with him. In his speech he stated in tne 1986 amnesty there were 398,000 cases of blatant fraud, and 2.7 million cases were approved. Of the 2.7 million they suspected many were fradulent. He also stated there is no way the DHS has the resources to process the applications for amnesty, and there is lots of pressure to push these cases through the mill, which means most fraudlent applications will pass.
Kris also stated that between June 2003 to October 2004 they captured 1,432 individuals from terrorist countries on the Mexican border.

"Relax, this is far from over. Cloture on the Spector bill just failed in the Senate, a filibuster is around the corner. And don't forget, HR 4437 passed with 239 votes remains the main political weapon the anti-amnesty House forces have on their side." You are a beam of sunlight in a gloomy moment, my FRiend. You're right. This is far from over. I'm staying on top of my congress critters until We the People are heard.
