Baghdad, 5 April (AKI) - With outgoing Iraqi prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari showing no intention of stepping aside to allow fellow Shiite, Adel Abdel Mahdi, to head a new 'unity' government, fingers are being pointed at nearby Iran. Shiite sources in Baghdad say Tehran may have fostered the split within the mainly Shiite alliance which won the relative majority in the new parliament. Jaafari's candidature has been rejected by Kurds, Sunnis and secular Shiites, who say he is too close to Tehran, but there are now allegations that some Shiite MPs, are on the payroll of Iran's Revolutionary Guards or secret services.
The six deputies elected in last December elections are named as: Abu Mukhtabi Sari, the former head of the Iraqi Hezbollah, Abu Hassan al-Ameri, head of al-Badr, the former Shiite militia linked to the most powerful party, the Supreme Islamic Council for the Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), Abu Mahdi al Mohandes and Tajah Alwan, both officials with al-Badr, Dager Mussawi, leader of the Foundation of the Martyrs of Imam Hossein, and Tahsin Aboudi, a high ranking official in the interior ministry.
Shiite sources in Baghdad say the men are all on the payroll of the Iranian intelligence services. They note that the six broke ranks with their own faction in the recent leadership vote, and voted against Adel Abdel Mahdi, the designated candidate of SCIRI. This allowed the one-vote victory of Jaafari as prime ministerial candidate.

Someone just tossed down the gauntlet.
On the day of the internal vote, the Iranian charge d'affaires in Baghdad, Hassan Kazemi Ghomi, was in constant contact with thirty or so deputies elected in the lists of the al-Badr militia led by Abu Hassan Al Ameri noted Ali Reza Nourizadeh, an Iranian analyst who writes for pan-Arab daily al-Sharq al-Awsat.
Who wants to bet there are intercepts of these conversations..
Iran has always been the 'head of the snake' in this war. Their day is coming and they know it.
I'm startin' to think them Iranian fellers is up to no good!

Yeah, it has to be Iran. It couldn't be our nutty policy of enabling Shi'ite fundamdentalist via "democracy" to take control of Iraq. Yeah....that's the ticket. Blame someone else. That's it.
Yeah, it has to be us. It couldn't be their nutty policy of enabling and promoting senseless slaughter and suffering to take control throughout the world. Yeah, that's the ticket. Blame America first. (but extract your head from your rectum first, so we can hear you) That's it.
