I go to my basics: Defense, judges and Taxes. We've been really good at that. Sure, I want them to cut spending; and I'd like to have domestic policies right. But Tony is absolutely right about getting too hot and heavy about some things that in a democracy do take a consensus, like immigration. It's not a one issue vote.
Now another caller wants to know "who is going to enforce the enforcers?"
Tony says that the Republicans have ahold of the tar baby. No one is going to be happy with the bill, and the American people are holding contradictory opinions on the issue.
I hope I can encourage people to post a little more about what's going on.
We don't, but who do you think will build the wall? My guess is illegals. Also how many years will it take to build the wall? My guess is years and years.
There's no hope for it! LOL.......I have often hoped to glean a bit of information from a 'live' thread but gave up. First 150 posts are all about coffee, cooking, weather, flowers blooming or trips to the beach!
"Whatever happened to Little Billy?"
In other words, getting to America is so desireable and attractive that they're literally swarming across the border. Nobody's swarming across the border to Nepal or Colombia or Luxembourg, so of course they don't have walls.
A wall helps the border patrol set up checkpoints so that legal immigration can take place.
But, some actually do get tickets and it keeps the rest of us honest. I see no "tickets" being given at the border.

ACH!
The dreaded double click.
My favorite is Katherine, who I think is a spendid pop singer; Kellie is No. 2; and Chris who seems to be an odd duck, seems to be the best male.
If the Catholic church violates the law, then it is time to remove their tax exemption. They are crossing the line between the separation of church and state.
"I think there's a fundamental problem establishing how long any illegal has been here."
That was my thought exactly. What he says sounds good. But, then again, what a lot of them say sounds good. I just don't believe we are going to be able to enforce much of anything. I really believe penalizing employers is the only thing that's going to put the brakes on this problem. How about we give employers amnesty prior to a certain date so we can get the names of the illegals. Then we come down on them like a ton of bricks if they continue the practice.
Ted Kennedy is a bloviating derigible.
Also the entro to Hillary's Secret War by JimRob.
That's our glorious(?) legislative branch...
Let me know if I'm getting on your nerves like Travis McGee and I'll stop, I'm too scared to call your show. Just trying to convince you is all.
Now Reid is on the Senate floor saying that it's President Bush's fault that they don't have a Immigration bill!
I am not for a wall - would not work in most areas.
FOX news alert: Immigration deal reached in Senate.
I don't recall my Church ever inquiring into anyone's status before helping them. EVER!
The last caller is just saying law doesn't matter if you are "a hard worker & pay your taxes". Making excuses for illegals...
