So I spent much of today reading that PDF. I enjoyed it, as I can enjoy most fiction. I have some issues with it.

It was written for Juveniles as far as I can tell. All the swearing, thumbs up, sexual angst, etc. distracted from the story. It matured quite a bit later on but still struck me as predictable and knowable. This is not to say I didn't enjoy reading it, I did. That's the same though as reading Piers Anthony and his Xanth stories. Fun, but easy, essentially predictable reads.

Thanks for directing me to it, it's a worthy read. I just wish the author hadn't pulled so much from the Star Trek universe. While reading it, I was pretty much able to pinpoint when it was written as he used topical at the time issues here and there. Again, not a bad read, just utterly predictable and known.
