Yeh, he's faithful to his wife, and doesn't drink like a fish. He also, AFAIK, doen't take enough drugs to keep himself perpetually stoned, or for that matter anything stronger than Dr. Pepper, probably the low calorie version.

Actually he did serve, in the Army, during the Korean War, but in Europe. After being expelled from Harvard for having another student take a Spanish test for him, he enlisted in the Army for 4 years. However his Dad, Rum runner and Nazi sympathizer, Joe Kennedy, got that reduced to two years (remember this was during the Korean "conflict") and saw to it that little Teddy would not serve in Korea. He never rose above the rank of Private.
There, that's much closer to the truth.
Make that just a German spy, there was no "East" nor "West" Germany in those days. Only "Nazi" Germany.

I am glad JFK helped his men with the PT 109 sinking, but he also caused the disaster and properly blamed himself. There was a cover over the exhaust that had to be lifted before gunning the engines. He did not do that and killed the engine, so they were sitting ducks. According to one account, he blamed himself. Daddy turned it into heroics with the help of his highly paid (bribed) journalist pals.
JFK had a lot of charm and wit, but he was no leader. His dirty past was certainly used against him to keep him spineless over Cuba.
The person I blame the most is Joe Kennedy. He was a skunk's skunk. He forced his sons into politics and did it in the dirtiest way possible. Ultimately he paid the price for it.

However, I think his service record in the Navy was good and he makes Kerry look like a girlie-boy.
