"So who likes the legislation? Its supporters are Wall Street, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, corporate America, and in particular various large employers of illegal alien labor. In other words: the GOP’s big donors, whom the White House has now marshaled into a large “bi-partisan” lobbying group to preach the virtues of legalizing illegal aliens on the airwaves."

I'm impressed with NRO these days. Can you imagine a liberal being so truthful about the same money supporting their position? I see no discussion at all on the lib side except an occasional strained argument that dissent is racist. Ted Kennedy even boasted he was "proud" to be working with the Chamber of Commerce on this one.

"That will alienate the crucial growing Hispanic vote, right? Wrong again, Karl. Doubtless a veto would annoy some Latinos, but most Hispanic voters were born in America and have little investment in illegal immigration. Those of them who are low paid themselves may actually oppose it."

but Karl has successfully spun the story, so far, that Hispanic citizens are particularly fond of amnesties and will vote up or down on Republican on that very issue. It's a racist attitude born by both business and white liberal elites.

The real tragedy is that we're losing our country to the open-borders crowd -- yes, the Dems but also Bush, McCain, Lindsay Graham (see how Tancredo on his website excoriated Graham for his total lack of principle on this issue!) and others. The sad fact is that some Republican business interests want the cheap labor and the Dems want the free (illegal - but not for long!) votes. Nevermind the hard, terrible reality: Our public school districts are going bankrupt; our social service system is nearing the breaking point; hospitals are curtailing public emergency services and forced to accept illegals who have no insurance; crime and the drug cartel are costing us billions in social and economic costs; 30% of the inmates in CA prisons and jails are illegally here; and this doesn't even touch on the national security danger of our out-of-control border policy. We hear propaganda that would lead us to believe that Hispanics have traditional "family values" -- when nothing could be further from the truth. As Rich Lowry pointed out, Hispanics have a 40% illegitimacy rate and are part of a subculture that is alien to BOTH the U.S. and Mexico! But Mexico has the wisdom to export this social debris to the U.S. with the knowledge that we are too PC and degenerate to oppose it. And the illegals send back about $20 billion so they don't even spend money in our economy -- -so the TOTAL beneficiary of this is the Mexican economy!! So - who's the sucker?

The fact is that the 65% of Americans that oppose the "amnesty" bills of McCain-Kennedy, et al., find themselves without a party. The Reps. have caved to the business interests who want the cheap labor and the Dems want the free votes. I had many reservations about this before, but NOW is the time for third party. It can work in the long run despite all the doubts many may have. I can explain. Meanwhile, Vive Tancredo!!
