MSNBC reported late Wednesday afternoon that a grand jury would hear evidence against Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-4th Ga.) on Thursday.
No word is available on how soon a warrant may be issued against McKinney.
The Washington Post reports Capitol police want McKinney prosecuted on a misdemeanor charge of assaulting a police officer. The fourth district congresswoman has said she's a victim of racial profiling and insists she struck the officer after he touched her inappropriately.

Black conservative ping
If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
I like the way you think, sir.
a hopeful ping
How do you rate the odds of a DC grand jury indicting McKinney?
She's made enemies on both sides of the aisle -- notice that Democrats outside of her personal friends here in Georgia and the Congressional Black (Liberal) Caucus are noticably quiet on this one.
She's truly shot herself in the foot.
That said, If she is indicted I will be surprised. Every day we see stories about the privileged in our society getting off with a slap on the wrist while first time offenders are given the MAX.
Americans, of ALL races, should band together and take a stand to say the days of manipulating white guilt to deflect from one's own bad behavior is over.
She'll walk for sure
No wonder I have zero faith in government or our ability to be a self governing people anymore.
Signed NeoCaveman,
no matter how cynical I get, I can never keep up.
Then again, maybe a pig will fly.

Keep in mind that this is a federal GJ. Even though it's in DC, I've got a little bit of faith.
And I never have paid the price for not paying my taxes, for I know better than to risk my livelihood.
But then again, I am not an arrogant b!tch who totes an attitude that I am above the law.
That's because I'm not female or a member of Congress. ; )
There's no Grand Jury in DC that would ever indict her. The best that can happen is that the House files an ethics complaint - and DeLay just might. After all, it wasn't so long ago that a House policeman was killed in his office.
The security is to keep that from happening ever again, and all of the elected officials (and everyone else who works there) should be cooperative.
"I won't rest..."
I hope I'm wrong but I've seen enough evidence over the years to abandon all hope....
I didn't know she golfed :)
No matter how cynical I get, it isn't enough.
She will be indicted. You must remember that in a grand jury inquest only the prosecution makes a charge and only their witnesses testify. They may make the gracious and lovely Cynthia testify, but only to their questions. there is no cross by her counselor. While I am sure she will not answer questions, but rather attack as we have seen lately, the judge will shut her down. She will be indicted. She has so enraged the Capital Police, they have no other choice than to press charges.
I just saw this article. It is not kind to the Queen at all, and it's an AP story. That only happened because someone from on high at the DNC wanted it in print.
I'm still inclined to believe that the odds of her being indicted are somewhere between Slim and None (and Slim just left town) but we shall see, I guess. If the GJ no bills her on assault, then it's up to the House to punish her. And if Tom DeLay files an ethics complaint against her, that may well goad the rest of the Dims to put aside their dislike for McKinney and close ranks behind her, just to spite him.
Brian on Fox and Friends did not allow McKinney to play her games. When she would not answer his questions he just kept asking. He had the real no spin zone.
I think that what most of you are thinking about is the trial, which would be held in D.C and which would allow her to bring in her own witneses. That would be a nightmare similiar to what she has done recently. That assumes that the judge allows Harry B and others to act as witnesses.
I will put my money on the grand jury moving this forward to a trial.
Anyone want to bet?
