I am curious as to why the Administration doesn't want to take on Syria. If it were general knowledge that Saddam's WMD's had been moved there, the pressure would logically be on to take out Assad.

An argument can be made that an attempt to do so .... failed ... ie the bombing in the the Syrian Capital.

Check the timeline...2004 campaign was in full swing in latter half of 03 and obviously in 04. Iraq was the central issue. That alone would have been a big enough factor to avoid expanding the war, but there were other reasons as well.
