What seemed the strange thing about the whole thing was that ALL other minivans -toyota,sienna- kia, sedonna -honda, oddessey- ford, windstar, I tried catch 1st jerk in rear shoulder straps. Our 01 caravan would catch maybe 1 time out of 10 in the rear middle and NEVER catch in last row seating. I guess no one can know for sure until NHTSA or IIHS do a frontal crash with rear occupants. All durangos I tested worked the same as my 01 caravan. Front caught first jerk all 4 in rear almost never. I am VERY suprised to hear someone actually has one that will catch first jerk in rear what year was it?
and 96 and a 92. But don't count on any help from gov'mint sources. I had a 78 Plymouth that was in the shop 5 or 6 times under warranty for stalling and 4 times at my expense after warranty. AAA insurance sent me a letter stating basically the their towing package was not in lieu of maintainance on the car. I broke down in Jefferson City (car was several years old then) and called Broadway towing and when he asked for make and model, he said that he would be right out with a ballast resistor. I had no idea what it was but he showed up and said to install it (one plug in) and drive over to a parking lot to complete the paperwork. I laughed but tried it. It started right up and I asked him about it and he said every plymouth had that problem and that I should keep several in my car. This after hundreds of dollars of fuel pumps, computer chips, etc. It cost one dollar and seventy five cents and totally corrected the problem. In Marshall MO I had to buy another one and the chrysler dealer had a box (bulk) right on the counter. It ticked me off and I wrote to DOT and Chrysler about the situation and got stock replies. DOT said they had never heard of a problem and Chrysler also denied there was a problem. (I probably replace 20 of those suckers).
