I just wanted these two questions answered:

1. Why did the catholic church give its blessing to enslaving the people of present-day Mexico and Latin America for about 300 years and not start a massive movement to STOP it (and, executed the one priest - Hidalgo -- who did try to stop it)? Why?

2. Why did/do the people of Latin America turn to the religion that approved their enslavement for spiritual fulfillment? Why?

Hey are you one of those that are trying to make "Jesus" illegal? (sarcasm)

Why?

Because it did not happen as you have postulated.
The Catholic Church didn't enslave Latin America any more than the Baptist Church enslaved the American South.

Latinos turn to Catholicism because they believe it is true.

#1 Spain deposited it's language, religion and genes that populates everything south of the border and beyond. Their culture is still rich, despite the years, and people good. All they lacked was the miracle of 'founding fathers'.

Your question extends to why tolerate the Islamists, Nazies and communists. Do you blame all misfortune leveled on people on Catholicism?

#2 Because it made the most sense. It's missionaries built Churches to preach love, schools to teach free will, and hospitals to heal.
