That is one of the problems with critics of the BSA. And it was one of the things that irritated me about this Penn and Teller show.
They don't know what they are talking about. They have never been involved with the BSA at even the most rudimentary level.
If they had, they would know that the BSA encourages a Scout to get involved with his own religious upbringing...whatever it may be.
My son is an Eagle Scout. He is also Jewish. One of the badges he earned towards his Eagle was a religion badge that required quite a lot of hard work from him to get. A phenomenal amount of work.
His Scoutmaster spoke at my son's Bar Mitzvah ceremony and presented him with the Etz Chaim (Tree of Life) Award.
My son's religious education and his Scouting have always been very closely intertwined. This is also true for a number of his contemporaries as well...not all of them Christian.
What about people who don't believe in a higher power of any sort?
