I am not into political history, but of course there have been other parties the Whigs come to mind and Teddy roosevelt was a Bull Moose party man, but they didnt last long, If it hadnt been for Teddy they wouldnt have lasted at all. It would take a strong and well known man to start a new party with any hopes of winning.

Maybe Bill Clinton could do it and call it the El Producto Blunt party LOL.

Well, I think originally there was the Democratic party and the Federalists (were they a party?). The Republicans didn't happen until the 1850s (anti slavery platform, I think). I don't know what the other party in the 1850s was tho, and I'm not sure how to google that.
