After the Tim Hortons' bombing in downtown Toronto was in the news yesterday, the timeliness of crime on the Canadian consciousness was underscored by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's address (timely!) to the Canadian Professional Police Officers Association. His message: crime is a growing problem in Canada and its time to address it. By holding criminals accountable. We'll see more of that common sense approach on display in this session of Parliament. Canada would benefit from an end to prosecuting gun owners and hunters and a shift to devoting more resources to putting behind bars those who threaten Canada's resolve to maintain its peaceable traditions and desire to have livable communities and safer streets. This is definitely one pledge Canadian voters expect their new federal government to keep.

Re-investing savings from the long-gun registry into front-line law enforcement Is that political-speak for quit wasting money on long-gun registry that doesn't prevent crime?

I like Prime Minister Harper's straightforward statements on what he intends to do. Simple and strong.
In short, he's set to kick a@@ and take names. Good.
