Perhaps that is why they are given LAPEL PINS to identify themselves in the event they are NOT recognized, which is exactly what happened here. To believe this fruitcakes version, the bad ass white cop must have been laying in wait for poor old cynthia to come along. Then he waits till after she has walked past, only asks here three times to stop, and then POUNCES on here like a vulture on a carcass, only to be fended off by her heroic and punishing left jab. I'm with you. Disgust in this type of behavior and throwing the racial card for what is very appropriate behavior on the part of Capital Police is beyond reality.

I enter my building every day in NY showing my building pass. If I forget it, I am asked to sign in and show identification even though the security guards know me. I wouldn't think of trying to bypass security or metal detectors as I know I would be stopped or possibly tackled if I tried to proceed thinking I deserved special treatment. I also would expect that at airports, the TSA would ask pilots and people working the gates to have to go through security the same as passengers. Security is for everybody.

Hitting a security guard with a phone while NOT having the proper ID and expecting special treatment because she loosened the cornrows on her head and was a member of Congress is asking way too much. She should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and somebody in Congress might consider a censure or other appropriate punishment for this kind of behavior. Nobody should treat security personnel like Cynthia McKinney does and get away with it.

I would expect and hope that a Captiol Police Officer would even challenge Ted Kennedy if he were not sporting the appropriate identification.
