WTF! Why is Leaky in the big chair?????
I had the impression that Leaky was referring to remarks by other senators, but I really don't know.
Though they don't actually say who made the comments ... they do make it sound like leaders are making them comments

It was a weird thing...I thought Stevens changed places with Leahy to call him out for accusing some Senators of "McCarthyism"....but, instead he agreed with Leahy...
I am getting tired head just trying to figure out who is on what side anymore!!!
I hadn't heard any race bashing or church bashing in the Senate...and if Leahy is going to get all HUFFY about remarks said anywhere, anytime----then he might as well just quit his job...because he will always hear something that "offends" his little senses.

I got distracted with something .. what are they voting on?
Cloture on the Specter/Judiciary committee bill.
Cloture for the McCain/Kennedy immigration bill, which will fail. Then the Hegal/Martinez bill will be introduced.
Is McCain/Kennedy Bill the same as the Judiciary bill? I am confused at this point.
Mo1...they are voting on the bill that came out of the Committee..without any amendments...this is actually the cloture vote on it...which will NOT pass...
which is GOOD.
Now, there are a few compromises in the works, and Frist filed cloture motions on them for tomorrow morning...the rest of today SHOULD be debating the aspects of those compromises...one of which has been concocted between Hagel and Martinez...
Of course the one that came closest to what I liked, the Kyl/Cornyn bill isn't even being considered...I hope though, that they get some of their amendments in...like not allowing any illegals to stay or enter if they have a record...
I FEAR, def, that what will happen the rest of today is another 10 hour quorum call---where all of the negotiating is done behind closed doors, they will vote---and we will just get whatever happens...without any chance to contact our congresscritter to object.
Of course, then they have to send whatever mess they come up with (at this point I believe it will be a mess)...to the HOUSE....for conference, and THAT is when the _____hits the fan!
So...ultimately, I wouldn't look for any legislation to be actually voted on by both houses and passed this year.

It was actually the Judiciary bill they were voting on, but it was essentially Mc/K with some tinkering, so I refer to it that way.
I am TV deprived today---Chase is watching her cartoons...so I haven't been watching Fox News...but I heard on the radio a minute ago that McCain, Hagel, Frist and other Senators have been on a lot of TV shows this morning explaining the compromises...
HHHHmmmm...well, it would be nice if they talked about them on the actual Senate FLOOR, wouldn't it??
