Exactly! These huge bills are exactly what get us in trouble. To many loop holes. Half of them don't even know what's in the bills they vote on.
That's right. They have admitted they don't read the bills.
Too much legislation is passed.
Congress has expanded government and their role over the decades. It is shameful.
Quality should be the goal, not quantity.
Along with LIMITED and necessary.
Absolutely Senator! :)
We didn't .. he threw himself under the bus after the Thurmond comment and when he went on BET and started to apologize and saying how he was now for affirmative action
Then there was that whole power sharing and buddy budding he did with Dashole
Because of all the screaming going on and the House bill that was voted on
I agree with y'all
Seal the border first .. prove to us that you mean it and then discuss/debate/vote the rest of the mess
The main problem is nobody trusts the government .. because they don't enforce the laws we already have on the books
A little while ago...Sen. Allard stood up to submit an amendment having to do with keeping out illegals that could be terrorists or something like that...
Immediately, Sen. Mikulski objected for the Minority leader..and Allard went on to say that he was sorry that he wouldn't be able to put forth his amendment...then went on to talk about it in length...
Durbin then got up and was asking Allard some questions, through the bench...and I hate to say this, but I didn't totally pay attention to what they were saying, BUT..
right at the last, I heard Durbin say that he "likes and agrees" with what Allard has in his amendment, and would work with him and try to see if they could get it included in the bill...
WOW...I assumed that Kyl would then come up and say, wait a minute, why are you willing to work with Allard on his amendment, but won't let me put mine up for a vote...but, since then another LONG quorum call..
I am really confused about that...because I thought the dems had shut down any talk of amendments until either after the cloture vote..or the Reps agree to THEIR previously listed list of amendments..(all dem except one I believe.
I can see this quorum call going on for another hour...and having Frist come up to the mic and say they will "TRY" again in the morning...pfffffft
A series of bills dealing with different aspects of this would be great... so that probably won't happen.
First thing, IMO, is to stop talking about enforcing the border and just do it. A law was passed in December of 2004 to add a total of 10,000 new agents over a 5-year period. Once they get that fully funded and implemented, and PROVE they can guard the border, then we can proceed to the next topic.
I heard Bush on the news this morning and he said that he wants a "comprehensive" bill from Congress and he wants it soon. He may be putting pressure on some Senators to hurry up and send him a bill.
She did say she objected on Reid's behalf, just following orders.
Major Garrett just said that this afternoon, the Republicans have begun to get "more together" on wanting to debate all of the amendments...
Then he said that on the Dems side...they are starting to have a problem, because some of the dems have started to peel away from the McCain/Kennedy Bill, because they have been getting calls from their REAL bosses, the UNIONS, who all of a sudden realized they don't like the idea of all of these additional "workers" taking away the jobs that unions want.
I have been wondering WHY the unions would be in favor of low paid workers staying here legally to keep the job pay scale down...I thought maybe the unions were planning on "unionizing" the illegal legals...
But, it seems they came to their senses and are now putting pressure on the dems...
We will see NOW if Harry and gang are still as strongly "all together"....LOL
He is but I think if they gave him a good bill he would be happier and I agree let's try to enforce what we already have!
Thanks I had to step out and missed the Garrett report. You know I am a total Bushbot. But I don't buy our dear President's line about jobs Americans won't do. You know how I have struggled to find a job, a good one. Well I struggled to get the crap job I have now. I worked for a good company that left town. I have a degree and no one wants to hire me for these jobs that American's allegedly will not do. I was at the point that I was going to start lying about my education.
Might have something to do with that event McCain attended where he was booed
Union Leaders were with the Dems .. but Union members weren't
Sounds like the Leaders got an ear full also
Aha, the "real" constituency is heard from.
Putz alert! Durbin up!
Ah...great point, that very well could be it...and why it is just today peeling away dems.
Thank you, Mo1!
Does Durbin always have to be so darn maudlin! Here comes Specter.
