They are very loosey goosey in their use of language. There is no real subsidy here and the taxpayer doesn't pay anything to the oil companies. What happened here is the government made deals with the companies that wanted to drill on federal land. The government now doesn't like the deal and wants to change it.
Wyden just mangled it again:"We don't need record royalty payments." That is just what he does want. Durbin is sooooo slimy.
Correct .. it is money that Congress wants to spend
And can't because Clinton screwed it up
Not very good pr for Hellary ... especially if she wants to run in 08
And now Wyden is saying the Senate (aka Republicans) are blocking him from trying to fix the oil lease problem
WOW ... Domenici is HOT!!!
Yelling about about Wyden and his amendment
NOTE TO SENATOR WYDEN'S STAFF: He is making a complete fool of himself right now and that is obvious to any thinking person. Cheap tricks and demagoguery.
Well .. let's see if Harry can talk him down from the ledge now
I'm beting Wyden doesn't back down
Nope....even ole Harry can't do it...
I wonder WHY John Kyl has signed on with this idiot---it sure makes me not to happy with Kyl.
FOFL ... Did he just object to Harry??
I think the good Senator made a mistake with this one. I still love him though.
I'm not sure why
Though he can't say the Republicans were against him
Well, well...it seems Wyden finally got the message...
The main reason I hated that Kyl attached his name, was because then Wyden and the dems could keep saying "bi-partisan"...ick.
Then I feel quite cheery.
When Harry looks sad, he reminds of a cartoon dog that I used to watch..I wish I could remember his name, something like Droopy, I think...
Was it Deputy Dawg??
That could be it!!!
Dang, I am old...can't remember my cartoon characters anymore...sigh
could be .. I can't remember
Lott is up now
Okay, so the government is responsible for the safety of our sea food. They have tested the fish from the Gulf and found it to be safe. Now they want $15 million to tell me that. The little shrimps in the market don't come with their catch location on them. I assume if they make it there, they are okay. This should not pass.
