Great examples!

Ronald Reagan was one of our greatest presidents, but his amnesty policy was a huge mistake, IMO. Actually, it was the procedure that failed. I understood his reasoning. I know an illegal Mexican immigrant who has been here since he was a toddler. He's in his forties now and as Americanized as I am. He is a family man with an American wife and children. He is the kind of illegal immigrant I think RR intended for amnesty.

I'm sure many like him went for the amnesty and deservedly so. But that isn't all that happened.

I've lived along the border all my life. I was stunned at the number of illegal immigrants I saw walking on Hwy 77 heading north out of the Rio Grande Valley once amnesty was offered. It was as if our border was completely open and what had been done in the dark of night was suddenly being done in broad daylight. The stream of Mexicans seemed never ending. These were not the illegals already here. They were newbies, fresh from the border. This was evident by the 'hobo sticks' many had over their shoulders with their few belongings wrapped and tied onto the stick. Those that have been here a while have cars or know where the bus station is located.

Reagan's amnesty offer caused a big increased flow of illegals at that time.

We can't do that again, nor continue to allow the flow of illegals to continue as is.
