John McCain Praises Pro-illegal Protests

Sunday, April 2, 2006 11:58 a.m. EDT John McCain Praises Pro-illegal Protests

Sen. John McCain is praising the recent wave of pro-illegal immigration demonstrations, saying that if the protesters hang tough they will succeed in forcing Congress to liberalize immigration laws.

"If such demonstrations continue, I think we will have a bill for the President to sign soon," the Arizona Republican told a New York City gathering on Friday sponsored by the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform.

"The more debate, the more demonstrations, the more likely we will prevail," McCain added, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News.

The Irish group backs the McCain-Kennedy bill that would allow illegal aliens already in the U.S. to stay and work toward citizenship.

McCain offered the comments as the city girded for its first major pro-illegal rally - a march across the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday that ended in lower Manhattan.

Despite the Arizona Republican's support, marchers on Saturday sounded decidedly anti-GOP.

"We are fed up," said Humberto Suarezmotta, a former professor from Colombia, told the News.

"Since the Mayflower, immigrants have been coming here and now we have Republicans who are against minorities."

"The people united will never be defeated!" other demonstrators chanted in Spanish. "We're not going, but Bush can leave!"

Geez, I really don't understand all of this??

Two years ago Bush related that there should be some sort of an "amnesty program" for illegals.

Now that this program is gaining traction, he's the bad guy and a racist? On a fundamental level, how have the Rats co-opted this issue to try to impeach Bush???

If McCain is the GOP nominee, then I'm not voting GOP for the first time in my life.

Does AZ have a way of recalling this clown?

They tried a few years ago, but he contested the signatures and tied the case up in court for so long the movement lost steam. I wish I still lived there, I would try to get it moving again.

This is more a national security issue than some islamic nut bags flying a plane into another building.
Bush doesnt impress me as having Americas intrests at
heart.
The Republicans are more worried about their stinking fairways than their constiuents they will rot in obscurity.
Bush is the advertisment Hillary could have!

This is why they call the Republicans the Stupid Party. The Republicans are about to legalize 12 million Democrat voters and alienate 75% of the rest of the electorate in doing so. Then they'll wonder why they lose the majority. Unbelievable that they can't figure out that the people in the streets waving Mexican flags will NEVER vote Republican, no matter how much they pander.

This is what McCrazy is counting on. I do not think any sane person has ever accused him of being a Republican.

"We're not going, but Bush can leave!"

Are these people paying attention? Bush is a bigger ally to the illegals than even McCain.

that Mc. Pain proves more & more every time he opens his piehole that he's f#cked in the head bigtime!

Btw, does anyone here remember the name of a certain N.Y. politician back in the 1920-1930's that was so mentally deranged due to syphilis and he pushed through and got the now infamous anti-gun laws for New York?
The reason I ask is because Mc. Pain is behaving exactly like that character.

One good thing about keeping the illegals illegal is that, officially at least, they can't vote. If the shoe were on the other foot, not one Rat would be supporting amnesty.

Not creating more Rat voters is sufficient reason, of itself, to keep these people illegal.

Nailed it. That's why I think folks here on FR who are so tolerant of the Bush/McCains/Specters who bend over backwards to "appease" democRats and appeal to (mostly democRat) minorities are short-sighted and delusional.

Most 'Rats will hate anything Bush does. So why won't Bush do the right thing and stand on conservative principles?

It's always better to be hated for doing what is right than to be hated for trying to kiss somebody's (rear end).
