Italy: Kidnapped toddler found dead (shocked).

Rome - The body of a sick 18-month-old toddler, whose kidnapping in Italy transfixed the nation, was found dumped near a river on Saturday, investigative sources said.

Tommaso Onofri, who suffered from epilepsy, was snatched from his home on March 2.

Prominent figures from Pope Benedict and politicians to singers and soccer players had appealed for Tommaso's release.

Police found the child's body near the city of Parma in northern Italy after they were led to the area by a mason, Mario Alessi, who had worked at the Onofri family's home.

Alessi told investigators the crying child was killed on the night of his abduction as kidnappers tried to silence him.

Police detained Alessi, his partner and another man.

On the day of the abduction, two masked men armed with a knife and what appeared to be a toy gun entered the Onofri home, bound his parents and took Tommaso.

The Onofri are not rich and no ransom appears to have been demanded.

ANSA news agency said a second suspect whose fingerprints were found on the tape used by the intruders to bind the Onofri family had also confessed to the kidnapping.

The investigative sources said the kidnappers had meant to abduct the toddler for a short time to extort money from his family.

In my country the death penalty is not legal. Why?

I offer myself to kill Alessi. He doesn't deserve to live.

How can you kill a child? How can you sleep after do that? How can you say on TV "children are sacred"?!?

I'm shocked.

My condolences to your country and congratulations for the profound shock you feel over this evil deed. It shows how decent Italians are. BTW, I agree with you that a death pentalty law is in order, especially for crimes like this. See my tagline.

I hope this animal never sees a court room. He should
be taken care of after he gives up the information needed
to find the other animals.

(Nice pictures on your ID page, the last two I mean)

Police detained Alessi, his partner and another man.

What does that mean?

"Domestic partner?"

"Partner in crime?"

For the same reason that people become vegetarians, or become socialists - self-righteousness.

My son was a vegetarian for awhile, and he even admitted that part of the motive was to be able to feel superior to nonvegetarians.

Socialists pretend to superior virtue with their pretence of preferring equality to material wellbeing, and look down their noses at those who aren't materially as secure as themselves and who prefer prosperity to moral posturing.

And likewise those who wish to feel morally superior can do so by criticizing those who respect the rights of (relatively) innocent people enough to consider that those who gratuitously destroy innocent people forfeit their own right to life.

I understand your feelings, however try not to let the wickedness of others taint the love and goodness that is clearly within you.

Trust God to deal with those child-murdering scumbags.

I say ship Alessi to Sicily and let a few "qualified men" have their way with him. Problem solved.

Your questions says much about you.

I hope you can enlighten many of your countrymen in the future.

You give me hope for the future of Europe and must admit that I often question if Europe has a future.

I really worry that France will soon fall to advancing Islamic fundamentalist hordes.

But perhaps you represent a new generation of Europeans who will defend the Western culture against those who would surrender the West to the East in the name of Cultural diversity and Cultural sensitivity.

The West needs to wake up to the fact that Western Culture deserves to survive and that it won’t if it is not cherished and defended.

I pray there are more like you at home.

Please come back to the United States again some time and visit further West than New York and Wahington D.C. You need to see where the Conservatives live and experience Red State hospitality.

The mano negro could take care of Alessi without the people of Italy going through the expense and hassle of court proceedings.

Our sympathies to your countrymen trying to deal with a baby being murdered.

I wish I could say differently, but we've known animals exist who can do this to children, in the US, for way to long.

Killing of Abducted Toddler Roils Italy
ROME (April 3)
The killing of 17-month-old Tommaso Onofri - apparently because he was crying too much - haunted the nation and prompted some politicians and citizens to call for the death penalty.

How horrible. I'll never understand how monsters such as these, Amy Grossberg(?) - the one who beat her baby to death with her then lover, Entwistle, and others can murder these children. They are just evil. (And that ditsy talking head, Patricia Farrell said there is no evil.)
