I've been waiting for the American people to get worked up over this issue for 20 years..... i hope it's not too late.
Trouble is people aren;t worked up enough to elect US Congress persons in border states and in border districts who are willing to forcefully pass tough immigration legislation.
I am a native San Diegan and you'd think ALL of SD's Congresscritters would be strong advocates of tough immigration legislation. NOT so. We have Susan Davis (D) and Bob Filner (D) in two of the districts; and the former Duke Cunninghma (R) and Duncan Hunter (R) in the other two districts.
Of course it's too late. The GOP has really, really let us down on this one. Large part of the southwest will be reclaimed by Mexico on at least a defacto basis within twenty years.
