I never said the U.S. flag stands for racism - aren't you, in fact, upset BECAUSE this principal asserted control over his students?! I guess I don't understand your post.
No one said you said anything -
to refresh your thought process -
"Principal Tom Stumpf said students were becoming involved in what the school saw as bigotry."
"Stumpf said he feared the conduct with flags on schools grounds could "pretty quickly erupt into violence." He said it's his responsibility to ensure the school and students were safe and called reaction to the suspensions "misguided patriotism."
Several students were suspended but only after they were told no overt action deemed to be RACIAL would be tolerated. " (They were suspended for the RACIST action of displaying American flags.)
He displayed no leadership. The bans did no occur after Mexican students displayed foreign flags in his school. The ban occurred when Americans responded. He is principal of an American school. He could quite clearly and directly make that clear to all. Instead he chose the path of equivalency - which is wrong. The Mexican flag is not equivalent to the US flag in a US school. The Mexican flag is subordinate.
If the Mexican students don't like the American flag, they can walk back. Pandering to them is not doing anyone any good.
And the administration bought into and supported their nonsense that display of the US flag is racist.
