Ethanol isn't really a good solution. Not only does it need a great deal of energy to create, but you can't pump it through pipelines.
Even it was free, it's going to be a logistical nightmare.
And unfortunately, ethanol is far from free. In fact, it's more expensive right now than gasoline, and will only go up from here as demand (artifically mandated by government) rises.
