I believe Jill Carroll and if I had been in the same circumstances, I would likely have said anything to get away from my captors. I have heard callers to various talk radio shows claim they could never be compelled to speak out against America and the war effort and that they would rather die first. I am fiercely loyal to America and a strong supporter of our fight against terrorism, but in a circumstance like Carroll's, it is a far wiser course to do whatever it takes to be freed first and then to clear the air with the truth once freedom has become a reality.

I kinda have a different take on it. I think, notice I said think, I would be willing to refuse to do as they say to a point, unless I was broken by continuous torture. However, I also think with the threat of beheading with a dull sword, I'd pretty much cave. Threaten to shoot me in the head...I might resolve to just be killed. Beheading is just a different matter.

You can't watch the Nick Berg video and not feel that way. I challenge everyone to watch it to put barbarism in the right perspective.

I'm with you. She is a civilian and, just like a victim of any crime, the first objective is to survive. Everything else can be repaired later.

Modern training does away with the old "name, rank, serial number" position for the military. Basically, they're to use their wits to survive. If it's possible to clandestinely have something unusual as part of any propaganda piece in which they're forced to participate, then that might be picked up by US intelligence now, but it can also be produced as mitigating once they're returned to US control.

Well come now. Who are you going to believe? Armchair 'generals' doing their 'duty' by calling in to Hannity to badmouth this poor girl or the person who lived through it? I believe her 100 percent.

I agree 100% I'm amazed at some of the reactions on here to this story. 99% of posters would have said anything to get out alive too. I for one am very happy to see Carroll reject those statements strongly and am glad to see she isn't just a terrorist dupe.
