"This would seem to be a law that each state would want to consider."

I agree. Unfortunately, we're too busy banning smoking in public places in Arkansas during our special legislative session, thanks to our RINO gov, Mike Huckabee.

banning smoking in public places
With all due respect to the fact that tobacco is intertwined with the history of America - and to libertarian principle - tobacco is in fact a noxious weed the ingestion of which in any form is deleterious to health. People are better off if they never develop the taste for it - with the exception that those who do not do so, in my case and in many others, find themselves reacting negatively when exposed to the second-hand variety. When I was commuting to college there were smoking and nonsmoking cars - and I would stand on the platform between cars rather than sit in a smokinng car if the nonsmoking cars were all full.

Life was markedly improved when smoking disappeard from my office, and when I no longer had to sit in cramped airliners with people who were deliberately making noxious smoke. My daughter, having found and moved into what she took to be an ideal location in a duplex in a nice neighborhood, went into mourning when she realized that the neighbors in the other side of her duplex were smokers. I wish it were otherwise but them - as Jimmy Durante used to put it - "is the conditions that prevail."

I don't like smoking at all, I don't smoke; but I think our government should be focusing on larger issues than banning smoking in privately owned places. Not to mention the fact that they're stomping all over property rights. Anyway, not to get off subject on this thread, I just meant I wish my governor cared more about laws like the one this thread is about.
