One Reporter's Opinion - This Land Is Our Land
Newsmax ^ | October 21, 2004 | George Putnam

It is this reporter's opinion that it is time to set the record straight for the misinformed Mexican illegal aliens and troublemaking Latino activists who call my Talk Back radio program monotonously.

They repeat for the millionth time the tired worn-out lie that "America stole the seven southwestern states from Mexico. This is our land, gringo, and we are taking it back!"

WRONG!

Here are the facts: Texans fought for and won independence from Mexico on April 26, 1836 following its victory over the Mexicans at the Battle of San Jacinto.

Nine years later, in December of 1845, the U.S. annexed the Texas republic. Congress sent General Zachary Taylor to Texas to protect its border with Mexico.

Mexico claimed the Rio Grande River as "their territory." After a series of attacks and clashes with Mexican troops inside the Texas territory, Congress declared war on Mexico May 13, 1846.

Hostilities continued for two years as General Taylor Scott led American troops to engage Mexican forces in New Mexico, California, and deep into Mexico. Mexico City was captured by General Scott in August of 1847.

February 2, 1848 Mexican officials and U.S. representatives signed a peace treaty known as "THE TREATY OF GUADALUPE HIDALGO."

The provisions of that treaty called for Mexico to cede to the U.S. 55 percent of its territory (that is present day Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas and parts of Colorado, Nevada and Utah) - this in exchange for $15-18 million in compensation for war-related damage to Mexican property.

The U.S. Senate ratification of the treaty, U.S. forces then left Mexico City.

There you have it. There are the facts. Either accept the facts or continue living a lie. The U.S. did not steal anything from Mexico; the former Mexican territory was won by the blood of young Americans like the ones who fought World Wars I and II, Korea, Vietnam, and are now engaged in Iraq. The seven southwestern states are American land, not "their land."

This despite what the pro-Mexican and Hispanic racist groups like La Raza, Aztlan, Lulac and La Mecha teach their uninformed young Spanish-speaking students in our own American public schools. Shame, shame, shame!

It is exactly how Adolf Hitler indoctrinated his people to kill anyone who opposed the German view of the world as he shouted, "Deutschland Uber Alles lebersraum!" (Germany over all and living room!). This is KKK American Nazi or Black Panther talk. As Sgt. Friday said, "Just the facts, ma'am... just the facts."

"They turned theirs into a corrupt violence-ridden Hellhole ..how long would it take them to repeat what they did to Mexico?"

Excellent statement.

Flyer, your post 55 pic is spot on!

BG, you know, I just might find room for one more flag, after all. I'd even recommend it for your extra-length job... ;)

I'm STILL laughing over the mental image of THAT MANY FLAGS flying in my front yard!

Hubby would pack his bags and leave.

Neighbors would have me committed.

LOL!!!

If he's had you around long enough, he might just shake his head, and have another section of flagpole installed for the next one to go up...never can tell about us guys.

You're probably right about the neighbors, though.

Wow.

Top-to-bottom, the entire Cli'ton-Gore Crime Family [Recently rehabilitated by the obviously oligarchy-obedient present president] in a single sentence.

And you are Absolutely correct. The Second American War of Independence is to use [Since I'm presently sitting in it] a 'Hollywood term,' already in Pre-Production.

And I for one am passionately looking forward to any contribution I can make to our winning it. As we inevitably will.

Immigration Control and Border Security - the jobs: -- as different from some of those he has illegally, unlawfully and un-Constitutionally gone out of his way to do: trashing the First Amendment; [McCain-Feingold] criminalizing American business; [Sarbanes-Oxley] communizing "health 'benifits;'" paying ransom from our pockets to mobbed-up-union-controlled industries and institutions: [Steel, agriculture, "educators," deservedly insolvent car corporations, the deservedly dinosaur "airlines," the NEA, Louisianna bums, criminals, racketeers and other "Democrats" etceteras] George W. Neither historical claims nor appeals to so-called "fairness" determine who owns what.

In the final analysis, the only criteria that determines whether you own anything is your ability and willingness to defend what is yours.

As a nation, we are at that crossroad. We're more than capable of defending our country from foreign claims.

Do we have the will?

One more piece of pertinent historical data (as though it matters in the least)...

Mexico gained its independence from Spain in 1821 (through a war) which means that Mexico owned Texas for 15 measly years (before that it and Mexico were owned by Spain). California was ceded to the US in 1847 which means Mexico had it for only 26 years. They both were won through military victories, just as Mexico gained its territory through war with Spain. They have been part of the US for well over 150 years (far longer than Mexico had them), so how dare the mexicans on that basis claim that they have a right to it!!!

Bu these claims are just silly games.

For a fool proof way of determing the rightful owner of anything, see my earlier post(67).

Our History has bad thing in it

what bad things? Our Country is here today because of what our ancestors did. If not for the Indian wars we would not be America. If not for slavery we would not be a strong union. If not for the Mexican War we would not have 25% of America. What they did was right at the time. Would you rather our Ancestors didn't kill the buffalo? Maybe it would be a good thing to have millions of 2000lb animals stampeding across our highways, farms and homes. Maybe we should not have conquered the Sioux and Apache nations and then we could have let the Mexicans or French do it. One of them would have if not us. the Indian nations were less technological advance and if not us then some other country would have conquered them Then instead of having a secure Continental USA we would have and still have countless wars fought in this land. How about slavery? Should we not have brought slaves over the sea. If not for slavery in the US and the civil war that it caused slavery may still be legal in the world. It was the end of slavery in the USA and the USA's influence in the next century that caused slavery to be almost wiped out in the world today. What other country in the history of the world can say to have done this? Slavery was the norm in the world for thousands of years before the USA said enough. So what bad things were done in our history. If we as a country did not do all of those things the world we know would not exist.

The Southwest Is Gonna Rise Again.

Effin' racist nationalists. The "Altzan" advocates are as bad as any neonazis or KKK klansmen.

Why don't they ever have a beef with Spain for conquest of indigenous peoples? What did Mexico ever do for them? And what of the indigenous peoples the Aztecs conquered? Bunch of wars fought and societies altered.

If this is war we are facing today, then I can say they will most certainly lose and our politicians should understand what we are facing. Nothing short of an INVASION.
