What is the National Animal Identification System?

What does NAIS require?

Coming soon!

From your city, county, state, federal, global governments to you, NAIS:

Premises Identification (ID)

Your farm will be issued a number that coordinates with longitude, latitude, and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS). You will be asked for 30 pieces of personal information. (State- Washington) Form: (AGR-300-365 (R7-05)

Animal Identification

You will be required to identify every animal from birth to death with an electronic identification (implantable RFID) AND alternative form of identification such as DNA, biometrics, nose prints, or retinal scan. (Pg 13 Draft Plan)

Animal Tracking

You will be required to fill out a form every time an animal is born, dies or moves off your property. YOU are responsible to KNOW where your animals are at all times and WHO is on your property at all times. (Pgs. 12-13, 17-21 Draft Plan)

Why do I need NAIS?

You will be told the following reasons:

Bio-security
Foreign animal disease
Disease eradication
Trade/market access
Disease surveillance and monitoring
Bio-terrorism
Food safety

What YOU will not be told:

Officials told us that DHS did not give them enough time to review and comment on draft federal guidance.

FDA and USDA are in varying stages of conducting vulnerability assessments-It is unknown at this time if there is even a risk of bio-security issues, foreign animal diseases or bio-terrorism but the US wants to spend millions of dollars putting in new regulations. GAO report

NAIS will not make our food safer. Most food contamination occurs in processing not in production.

Commingling of government and industry (agri-business) for personal gain. Government and religion must be separate. So it should hold true for government and commercial enterprise “partnerships” and “stakeholding” to avoid conflict of interest.

In 2003 USDA was transferred to Dept. of Homeland Security and resulted in fewer inspections while foreign imports increased significantly.

If you do not comply you will be “forced by market pressure” to not be allowed to participate in buying and selling.

If you do not comply you can face $1000 per day infraction fines, prison time, seizure & destruction of your property, and lose your right to vote and bear arms.

Is selling beef to Japan important enough to throw our Constitution, and our children's future into the trash can?

I don't think that selling beef to Japan is particularly an issue here?

I believe that what Japan's government asked for (at least originally) was that the U.S. simply do what Japan does: test all cattle at time of slaughter for BSE.

However, our government has been very much against doing that comprehensive testing, and instead has been pushing this nutty NAIS scheme which this article asserts is part of a larger effort.

It's really amazing: the USDA originally said that comprehensive testing of cattle was too expensive --- but this ubiquitous NAIS system is far more expensive than simply doing a one-time test for $20 or so on each cow at slaughtertime.

However, maybe I missed something and perhaps now indeed since we won't do comprehensive testing, maybe this NAIS has been somehow set up as a "compromise" position. But it doesn't make any sense: comprehensive testing will eliminate BSE; NAIS just gives you very extensive backtracking if you happen to find a case.

More and more of our laws are coming from outside the country, instead of citzens petitioning duly elected representatives.

It is a usurpation of our Constutional government.

The governnment is supposed to leave people alone, not create massive bureacracies that control every aspect of our lives and properties.

That is much better!

No disagreement there, but the USDA is forbidding private companies from doing testing for BSE.

Creekstone Farms has all confidence in their beef (and indeed, from what I have tried of their products, it is good beef) and wants to do testing for BSE on their own cattle but the USDA will not allow them.

Because there are other agendas at work.

Then that is the law that must be changed.

I have always thought that Islam would be the preferred religion by the elites for the masses because five times a day they know what you would be doing and what direction you would be facing.
