55 Square mile area affected in Charleston SC by Water Main Break
Breaking news on tv | 03/31/06 | Dixie Sass

The break is at Turkey Creek. The 48 inch pipe is over the marsh and no ones knows how it happened.

This comes at the time when we have The Cooper River Bridge Run, the Azalea Festival, the Cajun Festival, and a few other high profile events happening.

It is the main line.
It is the first time that this happened. The pipe is 150 feet into the marsh, it will be some time before it is repaired.

My water bill when I had to pay my own, never went over $35 a month period. In fact, it is one of the cheapest utilities here.

We lost all pressure at the time of the break, but they rerouted and we're back to near regular pressure. Live shots now still show a gusher at the break. It's a raised pipe over a marsh.

It used to be here too. But our township claims they have all this new development going on and had to increase the rates. It's really outrageous. I literally pay $90.00 for water (electric averages about $85.00).

I tried to call you to see if you were okay. Then found out I had the wrong number (dumb!!!!). Glad that it is back up, you are on the upstream side of the pipeline, right?

I saw the live feeds on Channel 5.

I'm just in the affected area, almost at the end of the line. Another quarter of a mile North and I'd be on Goose Creek water, a system that has no problem due to the break.

My cousin, who lives on Old Mount Holly Road was without water. I guess their's is back own now since yours is. We lost pressure here.

The water is almost through draining out of the pipe. That's a big gap! They are saying that it looks like it is the fittings and not the pipe. But they won't know until they can get out there and look at it.

The water break in Charleston is just the first step. Now, where is Cheney? You don`t know do you? Its all part of the plot to sell out the country.
Just watch, Bush will announce that the Mexicans have a "special team" trained by Halliburton in the UAE, that can stop leaks in large city water systems, and Fox is going to let them come to America to help save South Carolina. (Notice where Howard Jones U. is located)
Need more proof? OK, Had Mexican food in the last three days? Feel a little tired tonite? Well, most peope don`t know this, butin honor of Bush`s trip, Fox has sent Mexican chiefs to every Army and Marine base in the South and they have been feeding our brave troops for a week!
NOW, as a real American, WHERE IS CHENEY?

you might be surprised

they can mat out onto the marsh with equipment and a joint of pipe that big is probably on the way already

maybe within 24-36 hours it could be up...maybe less

what are they saying?

They are anticipating Sunday for the repairs. The cranes will be coming in. The water has stopped flowing.

They are advising drinking bottled water and using boiled water.

Lol, for what? I had the bad luck of watching Channel 5 when they came on with the announcement. Debbie Chard and Bill Sharp have a tendency to over dramatize everything!

They do have the equipment on hand. They're going to move a crane in but overhead power lines may cause a problem. The pipe was a few feet above the water but now the leak has flooded the creek up to the bottom. Plenty of different type specialty cranes are available as there's tons of bridgework being done in the area.
