Jim Rome was talking to Howard Feinstien about this today. Came down pretty hard on Duke, all but alleging a cover up, and said that the Duke President should force the players to cooperate. That they were all but admitting guilt by hiring attorneys.

force the players to cooperate

They have cooperated; even offered to take lie detector tests, but the police told them that it wasn't necessary.

They all talked to the police within the first few days.

Rome has a couple of valid points. I certainly don't want this to be true and will await additional information but I agree with Rome it doesn't look good the way the players are handling this. The best scenario I can come up with for the players is that whatever happened is now being blown out of proportion due to anger. In that scenario the players sure are handling it badly. You don't run and hide if you're innocent. You might want to but you sure as hell shouldn't.

That isn't admitting guilt or innocence. Just a smart move either way.

Whoever cites as evidence of guilt the fact that a potential suspect has obtained an attorney is ignorant of the American judicial system.

The job of the DA and the police is not to find out the truth. Their job is to build and prosecute a case. Hugely different tasks.

It's an election year. The democrat political criminal enterprise has issued orders to foment racial strife. The hardest allegation to defend against is a she said rape and racial slur accusation. The black racist democrats will be spewing this right up to election day and the BM (big media) who serve the democrap party will fill the airways witht his to foment racial strife. My bet is she didn't get paid what she expected and decided to punish the 'boys'. Racial relations in Durham are bad right below the surface and the city is the sort of place the racist blacks are looking for to exploit for political empowerment of their criminal enterprise democrap masters.

They may have watched a lot of NYPD Blue or Law and Order type shows. The detectives tell the suspects/witnesses to tell them all they know, that they'll help them out, etc....

[That they were all but admitting guilt by hiring attorneys.]

If someone accused me of rape and the DA said he didn't need evidence to convict me, I'm going to find an attorney.

Jim Rome is a loud mouth punk. He needs to start engaging his brain before running his "pie hole".
