Poor diet and lack of physical activity is bad at any age but is terrible during childhood when essential bodily systems are being built to serve for the rest of the person's life. Build a bad foundation in childhood and you can expect chronic problems throughout life.
Modern allopathic medicine can do wonders for acute conditions but is questionable when it comes to chronic conditions. Unfortunately, the distortions in the medical system mean that the goal of every drug company is to get as many people as possible on a daily pill regime to maximize the profit in so-called "blockbuster" drugs. Hence the overdiagnosis of dubious "conditions" at every age. For children it's "hyperactivity", for adults it's "high cholesterol" (just keep lowering the "normal" numbers every few years to keep the scrips flowing)

absolutely.
I have been prescribed about every one on the block - only one I take is only for heart (CHF)- got my blood pressure down well into normal range, my cholesterol etc - sleep apnea, GERD, and edema all under control - without the meds - by loosing 46 pounds, supplements, no more soda, lots of fresh well water, walks in clean air and sunshine.
The doctors can't figure out why I'm continually getting better instead of the progression or "degression" - they expect. I learned long time ago not to bother telling them I threw most of the meds out and take supps. They get very defensive.
