Child screaming 'daddy, daddy' abandoned in Miami's Liberty City

LIBERTY CITY -- Police in this Miami neighborhood are looking for the parents of a child who was abandoned Thursday night, news partner NBC 6.

A witness told police that a car dropped the child off at about 11 p.m. in the area of Northwest 15th Avenue and 62nd Terrace.

"I've heard of this happening with pets and that's bad, but for this to happen to a child, to be left in the middle of nowhere, that's unbelievable," police spokesman Lt. Bill Schwartz said.

Police brought the child to the police department. She was wearing an oversized, multi-colored sweater and has white beads in her hair.

"This child was seen running down the street on 62nd Terrace from 15th Avenue Northwest, screaming, 'Daddy, daddy' and chasing a car -- a light brown or gold older model vehicle," Schwartz said.

Police canvassed the area but have not located the girl's parents. They also do not know the identity of the child, who they believe is 4 or 5 years old.

The parent or parents responsible for abandoning her don't deserve her. She will likely be better off in the long run. What kind of people do something like this???

While I understand your anger, I hardly think that this is the same as if the parents murdered her and then dumped her body someplace. At least she has a chance at life. Too many precious babies are denied that chance.

Agreed, but the kind of inhuman and callous treatment of that little girl isn't too far from outright killing. At least she might have a chance to heal and find a happier home. At the least, the swine that abandoned her in that cruel fashion should be kicked out of an aircraft with a chute but no clothes, money or ID in some third world hell-hole country to fend for him/herself.

Sigh.

At least the child still lives, and can be given care.
Prayers for her are all I care to offer now.

just heard on local news. They think they found the dads car. It has blood in it. They think the dad killed mom and then fled the country.

It would appear the father killed the mother and is now being sought. At least he did not kill the child.

D*mn! That poor littel girl. She will probably have that image in her mind for the rest of her life. Bless her heart. May the Lord pour out a multitude of blessings on her and heal her heart. No child should have to go through such a thing.
