Child screaming 'daddy, daddy' abandoned in Miami's Liberty City

LIBERTY CITY -- Police in this Miami neighborhood are looking for the parents of a child who was abandoned Thursday night, news partner NBC 6.

A witness told police that a car dropped the child off at about 11 p.m. in the area of Northwest 15th Avenue and 62nd Terrace.

"I've heard of this happening with pets and that's bad, but for this to happen to a child, to be left in the middle of nowhere, that's unbelievable," police spokesman Lt. Bill Schwartz said.

Police brought the child to the police department. She was wearing an oversized, multi-colored sweater and has white beads in her hair.

"This child was seen running down the street on 62nd Terrace from 15th Avenue Northwest, screaming, 'Daddy, daddy' and chasing a car -- a light brown or gold older model vehicle," Schwartz said.

Police canvassed the area but have not located the girl's parents. They also do not know the identity of the child, who they believe is 4 or 5 years old.

How sad that you were quick to comment about her race and showing no concern for this poor child.

Bad parenting is not exclusive to any ethnic background or social standing in life.

You don't have to go that far, just sterilize them.

The really sad thing about this abandonment is that it is possible for a parent to legally give up parental rights of a child. By dumping this little girl she will end up in the foster care system and it will take years before she will be declared available for adoption. These are precious developmental years that she does not have to spare.

There is also the possibility that the person who abandoned the girl was someone who had attacked, kidnapped, and/or killed her father, who was still in the car.

I'm not sure which would be worse.

Could be. There was an Amber alert of a kidnapped child once where it was a little black girl. It was cancelled when they figured out the white man taking her was her adopted father. Such is life.

Don't ever reunite the kid with the parents. The kid is better off without them.

And deputy when you find the parents, tie em behind the police car and drag them to the farthest police station you can find.

Yeah, it is. Some people don't even stop to think about what they have in front of them. A child can be demanding, fussy, a financial headache and a source of heartbreak. But at the best times, that same child repays all the difficulties of parenthood by showing you an individual who builds on your work in the world, earning you a sort of vicarious immortality. That's really what family is all about.

They are worse than killers in my book. The victim of a killer is dead and their suffering is over. This girls suffering has just begun.

i'm not doubting what you are saying.
my experience has been with liberal, new york city and long island media--they tend to play subtle, covert racial games.
if the perp is white, they tend to state that fact--if the perp is non-white, they somehow don't mention it, but put in some detail so that the reader can figure it out.

They gave a description of her, and posted a photo, for info from people who might know her. If your complaint is they neglected race identification in the article for PC reasons, then make that complaint, don't ridicule the child by making a joke about a possible name.
And as far as the father- he very well could be white. My sister-in-law is white, but if you only saw her daughter you might not assume that.
