I never quite understood the Reaganolotry of so many conservatives. Yes, Reagan did a lot to advance the conservative cause, but he also did some things to set it back, amnesty being one of them.
On the whole, his plusses outweigh his minuses, but to set him us as some standard of conservatism against which to measure everyone else is just plain dumb.
Reagan was a step forward for America and Conservatism, followed by Congressional follow up.
Bush has been 3 steps backwards.
I would guess you are too young to remember the presidents who preceded him. It wouldn't be such a puzzle to you if you did.
