'Let the prisoners pick the fruits' (Not illegals!)
cnn ^ | 3-30-06

House conservatives criticized President Bush, accused the Senate of fouling the air, said prisoners rather than illegal farm workers should pick America's crops and denounced the use of Mexican flags by protesters Thursday in a vehement attack on legislation to liberalize U.S. immigration laws.

"I say let the prisoners pick the fruits," said Rep. Dana Rohrabacher of California, one of more than a dozen Republicans who took turns condemning a Senate bill that offers an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants an opportunity for citizenship.

"Anybody that votes for an amnesty bill deserves to be branded with a scarlet letter A," said Rep. Steve King of Iowa, referring to a guest worker provision in the Senate measure.

Their news conference took place across the Capitol from the Senate, where supporters and critics of the legislation seemed determined to heed admonitions from both Bush and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist to conduct a dignified, civilized debate.

The House has passed legislation to tighten border security, while the Senate approach also includes provisions to regulate the flow of temporary workers into the country and control the legal fate of millions of illegal immigrants already here. Bush has broadly endorsed the Senate approach, saying he wants a comprehensive bill.

The stupid stunts with the mex flag backfired on those bozos. Their militancy/anti-Americanism is now evident, even to the left.

Patriot's Day commemorates the Battle of Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts. The Revolutionary War began there on April 19, 1775.

Vote to stop illegal immigration by turning on your car headlights all day on April 19th.

Backfired how? I don't see anything changing. Bush is still visiting Fox in Mexico. Wall Street is still calling for more cheap labor. The flag burnings haven't hurt anyone profiting from this onslaught.

Idjits. I say we make the Congresscritters do the pickin'. They'd do less damage that way.

They're total bozos. Involuntary labor is the last thing the growers want.

Not to mention the ammunition they're giving to the lefties.

All late model cars have daytime running lights. You're apt to think you're getting a lot more votes than you're really getting.

Illegals do the jobs Americans won't do.

That is always in the stories as why we should continue allowing the illegal workers in our country.

The truth is that Illegals do the jobs that Americans won't do at the rate of pay chosen by their employers.

So do we continue propping up failing businesses by allowing them opportunities to continue to break the law?

Same argument as poor people need to sell drugs to get by.

Long passed time to tighten up the borders, but everyday the nation does nothing only increases the problem.

That's the way it used to be in Texas and we had an almost self-supporting prison system.

Then along came a lawsuit and that was that.

Forget making prisoners pick the fruit. What about high school kids?

Everyone has forgotten what the 3 month summer vacation from school was originally all about. It wasn't so teenagers could sit around and play nintendo, chat on the cell phone, take drugs, fornicate, and waste Dad's money on useless overpriced garbage from the mall. No! The purpose of the 3 month summer vacation is so that kids could help with farm work. It's time to take all those fat, lazy white teenagers, kick them in the @$$, take away the cell phone and credit card and car keys, and make them work on the farms every summer. That'll help the obesity epidemic, too.

The truth is that Illegals do the jobs that Americans won't do at the rate of pay chosen by their employers.

I would love a job building robots to pick lettuce and other repetitive work, but I can't have one because California spends 10 billion tax dollars per year on free health care for illegals. A robotics industry would create high paying jobs with benefits, and would better prepare us to make the transition into a war time economy if needed. The problem is though that robots can't vote for socialists.

Well, perhaps there's a chocolate processing plant near some prison.

Good wages, I'd guess, for helping pack fudge, w/ or w/o Bawney Fwank being involved.

The obesity epidemic is self evident to anyone who has had his eyes open the last few decades. Of course when liberals get hold of a cause, they tend to ruin it, but in the obesity case at least there is (for a change) a genuine problem there. Just look at kids now, versus the way kids were when you were a kid!
