Excellent post.
Substitute "national identity" with national loyalty. An entire generation of people with no loyalty to the nation and with no identity to the nation they live in can NOT defend the nation.
Bush is no patriot, nor is he a conservative.
We miss you, Ronald Reagan.
PS: When boat loads of convicts from Haiti start showing up at our shores--what then? Will Bush roll out the red carpet for them also? Set a precedent and now the entire world's poor will come to America.

(The purpose of this forum is to fight socialism (see FR homepage), not to defend Republicans.)

There are few things worse in political discourse when a supposed conservative echoes and gives credence to the leftist smears of conservative motives. Sadly, Bush does this on immigration, just like the WSJournal, Jack Kemp, Bill Kristol, et al.

Was Ronald Reagan disloyal to our nation when he signed a blanket amnesty of illegals?
The language in these threads has gone over the top. First, before blowing a gasket, remember that ANYTHING that gets out of the Senate has to go to conference. The Senate knows that. Be concerned but hang loose.
We will know more of where we're going with this next week.
