Beats me. I don't know how low wage people afford housing in CA. This is one HUGE mystery.

look at a recent case in NYC - several firemen died in a building, the landlords had converted it to single room apartments, had 20 people living in what should have been space for a family of 4, overloaded electrical, etc. it was a deathtrap. those are the kinds of housing being setup in cities and suburbs all over the US, and there is huge money to be made by landlords.

in this case, the landlords are now facing charges in the deaths of the fireman - I was over-joyed to see them charged, I hope they get prison time.

Exactly....this is what I mean. I know the hoops that I, as a citizen have to jump through in my state to get my car tag (proof of insurance, etc). You need a frickin law degree here to change a car title!

It is indeed a MYSTERY!!!! Find a property where you know illegals are....go to the courthouse and see if you can find out who owns the property....you won't be able to....mark my words, it has been tried here. What should be public record IS NOT!
