She was a valued ally. And she will be missed when she passes. Her tribute at the Reagan funeral in 2004 was a moving affirmation of her admiration in President Reagan and the team he chose to protect liberty in our lifetime.
Maggie was very much as pivotal as most other foreign leaders put together in helping Reagan organize the political ostracism necessary to choke off the Soviets from high technology and Western money.
We should definitely be honoring her as best we can while she yet lives, particularly as we also just lost two other key members of the Reagan Cabinet...Caspar Weinberger (SecDef) and Lyn Nofziger.
We are losing the generation that piloted us past the shoals of global Soviet communism.
And I am frankly not convinced that the current bunch currently at the top is up to the task to take out the remaining...and gathering... Communist threats.
The doubts and misgivings are increased because this generation of leadership seems unable to call enemies by their right name...and constantly fudges and confuses things with Foggy-Bottom weasel-speak or liberal moral relativisms (PC). Nothing like the courage shown here...
She was, and is, a truly class act, and great leader.
