A majority of Americans support deporting illegal aliens and securing the border, and have so for years. Of course an even larger percentage of conservatives are on the same page.

Why doesn't G.W. Bush, along with some other so-called Republicans, seem to care?

I don't think it's a matter of politicians not caring. I think they care a great deal. In fact, if you think about it, the U.S. needs the tax base to help support all of the baby boomers who will be heading into retirement. If the U.S. made it easier for immigrants to get a visa, we would be preventing problems that countries such as Japan has with one third of its citizens over the age of 65.

U.S. citizens are simply not re-producing fast enough, and taxes aren't decreasing. The baby boomer generation is going to totally screw over my generation (gen Y) if this bill gets passed! Think about all the debt we've accumulated with the Bush Administration. Who do you think is going to have to pay that back? People like me! My generation needs all the help it can get to pay that off! So let 'em in!

The reason politicians don't care about illegal immigration is because, while the people care about the issue, they don't vote on the issue. It is never in the top five of issues among voters during presidential campaigns.

Follow the money in all things...

The powers that be have long wanted this continent to be a United States of North America, and this is a wedge issue...

They are seeking open borders in all things...

They will n ot co ntrol the borders because they do not want to do so...

"Why doesn't G.W. Bush, along with some other so-called Republicans, seem to care? "

- Because no politician is going to back ANY proposal to stuff 11 million immigrants into cattle cars and ship them back to Mexico, especially since over 70% of them have been here 10 years or more, have no criminal record and have young children born in this country.
Why don't you people start to think of a workable solution instead of trying to back these emotionally based non starters?
