Again, not a slam on the Marines.

Some people have more to offer their country than sitting on a tank shooting at people. There are other jobs that are just as honorable and needed. Someone, such as myself, had to ensure that air control computer equipment worked so that the Air Force could provide the Marines with air support.

I was in the Air Force but was never a pilot. Does this make me less of a man?

All branches of the military serve a purpose and are honorable.

If we need CAS the Air Force is absolutely the last outfit we call.

Not everyone in the Marine Corps is a grunt and your statement is a sign of ignorance. There's a cornucopia of highly technical MOSs in the Corps, particularly in the wing.

Over the years I've interviewed quite a few Air Force trained techs who couldn't hold a candle to former Marines and squids.

"so that the Air Force could provide the Marines with air support. "

We provide our own Close Air Support. But you are correct, not everyone can fill a Combat Arms MOS, someone must play the support role. Each job is an important part of the whole picture and ensures that we put steel on target and kill bad guys!!

Isn't that what WAR is all about? No matter how many bombs are dropped on target, the Grunts on the ground still have to in and mop up.
