Newsweek Nailed for Nailing Republican - Hypocrisy?
Yesterday Newsweek magazine took after a conservative Republican candidate for Congress, Howard Kaloogian (website: http://www.kaloogianforcongress.com) because he mislabeled a photograph he took on a "support the troops" mission to Iraq.
Kaloogian joined Melanie Morgan (co-founder, Move America Forward, talk show host KSFO-San Francisco), Mark Williams (KFBK-Sacramento) and a delegation of talk show hosts on a 10-day trip to Iraq in July 2005. The purpose was to allow U.S. troops to report the progress being made that the old line liberal news media outlets refuse to report.
One of the photos he posted was from Istanbul, Turkey where part of the delegation stopped on their return. The photograph was immediately corrected once the problem was discovered. Mislabeling one photograph shouldn't be a big deal, right?
Well, except that Newsweek attacked the conservative Republican Kaloogian and in doing so, MADE A MISTAKE. The original headline on the editors highlights was "California Congressman Nailed..." except Howard Kaloogian is not (yet) a Congressman. The entire point to their article (attacking an innocent mistake made by a Republican) was in fact made by them.
They caught the mistake and fixed it - just as the Kaloogian campaign caught their mistake and fixed it. But not before a conservative Republican supporter of Kaloogian's caught the Newsweek mistake. So, will Newsweek now write a "Newsweek Nailed" story? Probably not.
Attached you'll find the Newsweek images that were saved.
And here's the link to their original story attacking Kaloogian:

GO HOWARD GO!!!
All kidding aside, libs don't care, anything done to take down The Enemy is OK.
This is a "big nail" by leftist bloggers? If only Newsweek had thought the forged Bush Guard memos by CBS this big of coup...this photo was clearly an accident. The forged memo was clearly an attempt to deceive.
It's just like the ABC Good Morning America producer and his lamenting about Bush.
Since when would a publication like Newsweek print "Nailed" in a headline about a political figure?
I wonder if they ever "Nailed" John Kerry?
LOL........ a little tit for tat or is it 'gotcha'.....
Only in their dreams. :)
The only place I see Newsweak any more is in my barber's waiting area.
hahahaha!
I saw some yuppie with a grin on his face walking down the sidewalk the other day, holding his copy of Newsweek so everyone passing by could see what he was reading.
All I could think was "What a robot."
Newsweek is okay in an emergency but I like Charmin much better.
Hey, give them a break. They are just being optimistic. He will be a "Congressman." Might as well not even have an election. :)
It still reads the same thing referring to him as a congressman.
Pointed this mistake out to MSNBC. Will let you know how they respond.
Thank you!
They just changed it from Congressman to Candidate.
Did they do the story "Newsweek Nailed by Conservative Bloggers?" along with it? I'm sooo waiting for that.
It's being reviewed by the editor as we speak.:)
Okay, I am not seeing this article posted anywhere on the Kaloogian website. I need to find the page where it's posted so I can throw it back in the teeth of some smug lefties. I don't see it under News or Issues or Multimedia. Does anyone have any ideas? Or did it come from somewhere else?
