"With a 700 ton delivery truck, silly. I agree, they should use a nuke. Easy to deliver, and multi-megaton yield."
Maybe they are using conventional explosives to test what size nuke needs to be built to do the job...

Wow, that is a really cool picture. Where did you find it?

"It was a joke..I thought it would be obvious..I guess I was a little too tongue-in-cheek.."
A good joke, I just get my panties in a bunch on the subject. I wrote a 200,000 word book on the protest movement and history of Yucca Mountain. I'll ressurect it over the next year or so.

I got the image of Knucklehead Smith in a lab-coat.

The cloud for the MOAB test down at Elgin looked kind of like a Manatee. That and the Florida angle, and it was a natural.
Oh, the Huge Manatee!

Explosive power (equivalent to tons of TNT)
Not the actual weight.

The test is a detonation of a 700 ton buried heavy AN/FO charge above a tunnel structure. The main purpose of the test is to study ground shock effects on deeply buried tunnel structures. Very, very interesting.
A practical conventional weapon that large is almost impossible to imagine. It sounds more like an experiment designed to test the effectiveness of a ground penetrating nuke against an underground bunker complex.
Of secondary interest is the airblast produced by a buried charge and its modification as it propagates over the local terrain.
That sounds like shorthand for "we want to evaluate how much radiation would be released into the atmosphere by a ground penetrating nuke."
If I were the Iranians, I would be very nervous after reading this article. No doubt that is a big part of why the test is being publicized. ;-)

"If we're gonna use something that powerful, why not use a danged nuke in the first place?"
No fallout. This is important if you're going to move in an occupy the territory right after the blast.

Oh, this is a porno movie... Actually it is for mineshafts...
We cannot afford to have a mineshaft gap...

Plus, nukes have a bad rep. We have nukes that have yields rivaling some of the largest conventional bombs, but the latter will always be used because the U.S. does not want to be accused of "nuking" anyone.

Maybe, just maybe, we are going to use 9/11 tactics on the Iranians......load up an old B-52 with explosives, install remote control, and fly it into Iranian bunker complexes......

No, I'm doing pretty well.
I've been busy at work tying up loose ends. I'm going to be moving out of my "temporary" position back to the operational side of things on Monday, so I've been moving my stuff a handful at a time for the past few days.
I've moved my plants and my beanie babies; tomorrow it will be my personal fridge and my computer.
The daughter is doing well. Since her little incident that got her grounded, she's gotten her grades up and dumped her druggie boyfriend. Life is good.
