Lou Dobbs Wins Viewers in Opposing Illegal Immigration
NY Times ^ | 3/29/06 | BILL CARTER and JACQUES STEINBERG

Posted on 03/30/2006 7:53:51 AM PST by Dr. Scarpetta

Lou Dobbs, the nation's most prominent opponent of current immigration policy, began his day yesterday on the "Today" show on NBC, debating a Hispanic defender of illegal immigrants. He moved on to "American Morning" on CNN to denounce a bill passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday as "an amnesty program."

On the CNN morning show Dobbs called the Senate bill "an unconscionable act" and "a sellout." He appeared again on CNN's midday "Live From..." program, saying, "I think illegal immigrants are a burden to the taxpayer, unequivocally."

This followed by just a day a confrontation between Mr. Dobbs and a guest on his own program, Janet Murguia, the president of the Hispanic civil rights group National Council of La Raza, during which he lectured her on immigration policy.

"Yet, to listen to Dobbs, nobody's working, nobody's making any money, and The Man has his boot on the throat of the workin' man!"

That doesn't seem how he comes across to me. He mentions that Americans on the lower end of the economic pay scale are hit hardest by illegals taking jobs in the trades and other apprentice work.

But hey... you don't actually WATCH his show....right?

;)

Dobbs is against companies' wholesale exporting of American jobs.

There is no "wholesale" exporting of jobs.

Do you ever hear Dobbs talk about insourcing?

There are actually more jobs being created by foreign firms coming in to the United States than are being lost by outsourcing.

You're right about the growing gloom and doom. I think a growing number of people feel that our country has never before presented an image of such weakness and impotence and the Administration's seeming inability to provide any kind of protection of our borders feeds that image. At some point, we need to have some kind of national defense.

Could be conviction... more likely, ratings. Any damn fool can see what the vast majority of Americans favor. Whatever is Dobbs reasoning... he's beating the Republican Senate with it like a baseball bat!

Get ready for a massacre in November.

Nothing sane about Dobbs. He blames the entire illegal immigration issue on Bush. Every single aspect is all Bush's fault.

If a problem grows exponentially worse for 6 years after someone is in a position to do something about that problem, it's a reasonable assumption that the exacerbation of the problem is that person's fault.

6 years of Bush has resulted in an untold number of illegal Mexican immigrants entering the US and 500,000 new legal Muslim immigrants to our nation post 9-11.

I would imagine that Lou is a pain in the side of the corporate traitors over at the Clinton News Network.

However, I doubt that they are smart enough to figure out what is causing them to lose big time in the ratings wars.

Wolffie Blitzkreig,Jackass Rafferty and others have doomed CNN to the bottom of the scum bucket in the news business.

Who is that Homo looking guy who does the political analysis.

He certainly looks like he needs to squat to pee.

It was amusing to watch CNN go back to the guy after they fired him. Lou, strangely enough, was not picked up by one of the major networks during that period. He did several things...but it almost looks like he purposely waited on CNN to call him up and ask him back. And I suspect he named his own terms and demanded his hand-picked crew to run the show.

Today, Lou could easily step into CBS and run the nightly news there, and i'm surprised that Katie Couric is the one they are asking. Lou would take anwful lot of viewers with him....and I think he would be the trusted name in nightly news if he did get offered the position.

I also wondered why no other network picked up Lou when he was let go by CNN. He would have been a great catch for any of the MSM. They all need a "Token" conservative.

He mentions that Americans on the lower end of the economic pay scale are hit hardest by illegals taking jobs in the trades and other apprentice work.

We had our house remodeled in late 2004. The guys who put in the wood floor were all caucasian, the guys who put in the tile, the counter-tops and did the painting were probably illegals, although I never asked.

The floor guys got here at 9, took cigarette breaks every hour on the hour, with an hour for lunch, and left at 4:30. It took them a week to put in 600 square feet of flooring.

The other guys got here at 7 am, did not take breaks, brought their lunches and ate in shifts, and left at dark (7 pm). Oh, and they came on Saturdays. All their work, on a 2000 square foot house, was finished in three weeks.

The counter-top guys and painters have been back five or six times over the last year to fix little problems that came up, and have never charged me a dime!

When I noticed a little roll in the floor, the floor guy said he would come out, but his three-month warranty was over, so he would charge me $30 an hour to fix the roll.

This experience told me all I needed to know about why employers want to hire illegals. Not only do they do the job for less, they do the job!
