I remembered the shooting - I was in 8th grade. When it was announced, it was passing period and I was going through mu Jr. High's (now middle school) library going to my next class. I thought of Kennedy, Lincoln and other Presidents that died in their first term that were elected on a "zero" year as ie. 1980, 1960, 1920,.... Reagan luckily broke that rule !

I think that went all the way back to 1840, that presidents elected in a "zero" year died in office:
1840: Harrison
1860: Lincoln
1880: Garfield
1900: McKinley
1920: Harding
1940: Roosevelt
1960: Kennedy
